Yesterday, I had a couple of packages in the mail. I knew one would be arriving any day, but that one remains under wraps. He knows who he is, and I am honored.
The second package was totally unexpected. I recognized the Porch members name and tore into the package like a wolverine tearing apart a rabbit hole. :D
Chris Montgomery sent me one of his own hand forged fixed blades constructed with 80CrV2 steel with tapered tang. The cocobolo wood was gifted by Ben Seward and the sheath handcrafted by David Seward. Both fine craftsmen in the Bladeforums. they both have family also battling cancer.
Chris crafted this knife with a fine hand rubbed satin finish and the cocobolo is buttery smooth. What a beautiful piece of handcrafted work. the sheath is nothing short of amazing as well.
Thank you gentlemen. Thank you most of all to Chris, fellow Red Sox fan.:D:thumbup:
Some pics. One pic shows it with a GEC 15 for size reference.

Congrats Bob, Chris is top shelf and a person I am proud to call my friend. Enjoy using that beauty, 80CrV2 holds a great edge. David is one of the finest sheath makers today.

Fantastic generosity:) Those two beautiful knives look good together Bob. I love the fixed blade, great lines, and a lovely execution. Fantastic work Chris, well done

Some threads just make you smile, this being one of them. Fantastic gesture gents and you couldn't have picked a more worthy recipient:thumbup:

You just have to love Cocobolo! Man I love the character to it and this is a great set. A beauty of a knife and gift.

Outstanding in every way! Just the right size. The craftsmanship is something to behold....wow

That is fantastic! Cocobolo is such a rich, beautiful wood that pairs amazingly well with that rich, beautiful sheath.

I think my favorite traditional in my collection is my cocobolo beer scout. I can't imagine having THAT much cocobolo in my hand at once :D What a beauty. Rest up and enjoy, Bob

Bob and Chris, you are both such great members and friends. Very nice Bob as you are so deserving:thumbup:

Chris your gift is truly special, good on you, in the words of a friend on mine...Legend, comes to mind:cool::thumbup:

Couldn't have said it better myself.
