Awesome reading, and I have to tell you awesome viewing as well!! Wow Bob - that knife is a real piece of work - just fist rate all round, Chris, Ben and David -THANK YOU for being so kind, Bobs a worthy recipient - amazing stuff.

Does that have a tang that swells in the middle and thins out to the butt of the knife? That's so cool! Such a great idea!

Irona, the tang is tapered. The thickest part is at the ricasso. I forge the distal taper, from the ricasso to the tip, the primary bevels, the tapered tang and profile as close as possible before grinding. The purpose of the tapered tang is to decrease the handle weight and provide better balance.
