i'm a bit disappointed today when CRK emailed me back. What i wanted to know was if they could sell me just the blades for the sebenza and you guessed it the NOPE. wouldn't it be nice if we could just buy a couple of the blades to change in between :D polish on monday stone wash Wednesday and maybe insingo on friday ;)

don't have enough free time to swap the blades, prefer to pocket the knife according to the mood of the moment
would be hard to be able to have 3 blades to fit 1 handle/frame perfectly and the same, without fitting

thought I read it was 100-200$ for the blade or something like that, maybe you have to have a damaged blade to (buy) get a replacement?, sending it in before of course
Maxx

Wow they won't do that? Even if you send the knife in for a fitting?

That really bugs me, because I wanted to get an insingo blade for my large micarta.

Only guessing here BUT, for a company that has the reputation for quality, F&F and warranty service as CRK - I imagine ONE of the ways they got there is by protecting the process.
Otherwise, one week a couple blades get ordered, then next week a couple scales, etc.. before you know it - entire knives are being assembled with no control over the processes that they are known for.
Just a guess.

That's kind of a straw man argument since they DO offer reblades.

Seems logical that they could sell you another blade as long as you go through the warranty reblade process. Scales are a different story, since they don't exclusively offer new scales as a warranty service.

I think you can send your knife in to get a blade fitted to it. I think it's something $150.

I don't have any experience with it, but that's just what I think I've seen on the forums.

Did you ask about returning the knife, or ask about buying blades without having them fitted to the knife? Blades are fitted parts. Even the "regular production" companies would never sell you a spare blade without the knife being returned.

if you want a new blade you need to send in your knife so it can be fitted. they're known for their f&f and tolerances for a reason yeah, wouldn't be so easy if you just grabbed any ol blade and popped it in. if you want a regular profile, then that's definitely no.

Ahh so you can get a blade if you sent it in. That's good news.

Don't think the OP was asking for a re-blade. He specifically mentioned buying a couple blades.

I know, that's what I was referring to. I was saying that it seems odd that they won't let you buy a new blade, since they do offer reblades.

It's a mystery until and If someone from CRK chimes in that's why my supposition was advanced as a mere "guess".

I do own a business and I am very protective of how I want things done, it is my name on the checks. IF I owned a Knife Company of the caliber of a CRK - I know I would not "sell" my parts no way no how.
and IF it was a warranty replacement, it would come back for the swap out - no exceptions. But that's me.

Reblades have been done in the past, heck, in the chris reeve dvd the leather worker had his rebladed 3 times.

They however won't ship the blade to you. You have to send the knife in as each lock and blade are fitted individually, this becomes clear when you watch the dvd.

 This. CRK will definitely replace blades that are damaged or out-of-spec, or just on customer request. They've done it for me several times. But they don't sell them as "spare parts". They need the knife so they can select the right blade for that handle and lock and do the final hand tweaking to make it work like it's suppposed to.

You can buy a blade (21 profile) directly from CRK (129.00), just have to send your knife in. They do not offer the Insingo blade yet for the reblades. I had a Large Micarta with a S30V, S35V, and Damascus blades all fit to the knife, not really that hard a process if you want different steel. I do wish they were offering the Insingo now though.

Thanks atony. That answers part of my question. Will CRK let you specify the finish you want on the new blade (stonewash or satin)? And can you buy a damascus blade directly from them? If so, I wonder how much that would cost.

i believe the damascus blade for raindrop or ladder is $295 per blade and the spirograph is somewhere around $315 per blade. either way its more cost efficient to just get a brand new sebenza with a damascus blade. New= $515 and to buy a sebenza and reblade its like $645  for a small and more for a large.

I'm not sure about having the choice of stonewashed or polished, never really cared for the polished blade. I don't see why it would be a problem though?. You can get a Damascus blade from them but there is a wait time and it does run 275.00-300.00ish for the blade. Like wolf said it may be easier to find or just order a new one.

No company is going to send you just a blade, or at least I don't know of any.

Just send the knife in(about $6 bucks) and let them fit the blades to the frame.

Ditto. I've never heard of a knife company sending out just the blade. Especially CRK where theres a lot more to it than just popping in a replacement blade. But if your willing to send the knife in then they'll fit as many replacement blades as your willing to pay (for each knife you send in of course).
