Unigrinder

Nice work
what was the cost with out the motor
if you don't mind me asking. nice touch
with the handles,

Don't mind. Did not keep alll the receipts so this will be close.

steel - 100 bucks (I bought full lengths since I will use the remainder for something else some time). I also cut them to length on my bandsaw. You would likely pay close to or more than this amount if you purchased material cut to length

machine (lathe & mill) 1" drive shaft for machine, 8" contact wheel, 2- 2" solid aluminum wheels, installed bearings in 2 polycarbonate wheels I furnished. All by Rob Frink came to $302

bought my motor and controller on ebay -- say $225 delivered.

Many hours, lotsa thinking (boy that was tough)

Now for the clincher - great machine! Do I reccomend everybody build one? Definitly not. If you have a fully equipped shop, have quite a bit of metal fabrication experience, and can read, interpret, and modify plans on the fly then this is the baby for you. Otherwise - I would heartily reccomend you get one of Rob Frinks machines.

that is a clean! machine!

well done, bill

Bill,

Tell me about the finish.......it looks very professional! It looks like a crackle finish in the photos....what is it? It looks very durable as well. Please tell all....?

Sincerely,
Rob

Rob the finish is Hammerite paint. I have tried a lot of different paints through the years but this is by FAR the best stuff I have ever worked with. I have an el-cheapo Binks spraygun knockoff from Harbor Freight and spray w/ 30 lb. line pressure. You have to use xylene for a thinner w/ this product. I love it - attractive, very durable, variety of colors available, easy to apply. No, I do not work for nor have $$ invested in their company. The motor on the machine is also Hammerite, just a different color.

Hmmm - tried to post this once & it did not take. Will try again. Rob the finish is Hammerite paint. I have a Binks spraygun knockoff from Harbor Freight and spray w/ 30 lb. line pressure. You use xylene for a thinner w/ this product. Comes in a variety of colors, is VERY durable, easy to work with, and I LOVE it. It is about the only type paint I use anymore. No need to do a lot of wirebrushing. Just spray it over light rust w/o problems. If the rust is loose you should get the loose stuff off first.

Thanks bill
I that a fine looking machine,I would love to get one of rob grinders, have to get the $ saved up and see if he will do business
with me, he is a top of the line machinest
and does fine work.I think I will go that rought,I can run a mill but don't have a lathe, so the finished grinder sounds like the best way to go.rob has done a very good
job with his grinder

I have just seen pictures of his grinders (Rob Frink's). But the design, and the workmanship he puts out leaves no doubt at all in my mind that it is a great machine. I know the 8" contact wheel I got from him is smoother than a babies butt.
