If you're a fan of Anders, you know that when it comes to the Japanese influenced knives, they tend to be fairly stubby Kwaikens, he makes those pretty frequently, as far as long, slender, quasi-traditional Tantos, well, this is the only I have come across, and it's very sweet.
Large for Anders, this Tanto has an 8.5" blade of 1050 carbon steel with a very complex and active Hamon, it was tough to get it to show in the pics, it is much more active and impressive in person.
Anders is known for using some primo materials, whether they be wood or ivory, the Olivewood burl he used on the handle and scabbard is off the charts, it is super glossy, even though again, the pics aren't really showing it very well, it's like the most amazing yellow, brown and tan glass. The throat is polished buffalo horn, and the hardware is all antiqued, sterling silver. The top of the blade is bevelled and semi-sharp, and it glides into the scabbard with precision.
I believe this one was priced originally a little under $2,000, don't remember the exact figure, but it was around $1800 I think.
First to email gets this pretty much one of a kind Hogstrom for $1525 shipped overnight.
This is just one of those knives that looks a lot nicer in person, so, the buyer will be very happy upon receipt, but if not, just send it back for a refund.
First to email me and say they'll take it gets it, Paypal OK, but I'll only ship to a confirmed address.
Thanks for looking.
Ari
