This is a collaboration between long time maker Terry Knipschield of Rochester Mn USA and myself.
I designed the knife, did the final assembly/shaping, as well as the handle.
Terry built the chassis and engine, I did the body work.
His grinds and heat treating of ATS34 is perfect.
The thick handle fills ones hand and at 4 1/4" closed, it is a substantial knife made for hard work.
Blade is ATS34, one inch wide, 3 1/4" bolster to tip and close to 5/32" thick.
Bolsters are Gabon Ebony and the scales Australian Red Morrell burl, with a bit of copper separating them
When closed the blade is nicely centered.
Detent is strong, positive and emphatic, so the blade is held firmly in the open position.
When opened the blade locks into place with a nice audible snap.
Liner locks at the beginning of the tang thus ensuring a long life.
This is an original unique custom knife.
Big and bold, a straight forward design with a comfortable handle and a spear point blade.
I carried and lightly used this knife as my personal EDC and the blade has some fine scratches (sadly, an unavoidable feature of mirror polished blades).
Will consider a trade for Spyderco Anso + $
Spyderco Perrin + $
Older Sebenza
Older Dozier folder
Some William Henry models
Thanks.
