Has anyone here ever heard or saw a knife made by United which is 11 1/2 inches long, in a heavy leather scabbard, brass bolsters and stamped uc 276, stainless steel,Taiwan on the tang?

It has a globe with UNITED on it on the other side of the tang. Found it in a junk store. Pretty knife but very odd, almost looks like a small sword.
I normally wouldn't condider a foreign knife but it struck me.

United carries items from wall hangers to expensive functional wall hangers too cool to use. They have a lot of movie tie in blades as well. Some of the really cheap stuff may be really cheap stuff.

I was checking BudK's website and they have a ton of United items. You may find that blade there for reference.

I've seen one, I own one, and I carry one almost all the time, even to church. I don't know where it came from and I can't find any pics of it on the internet. I traded a friend an external dvd burner for it who had bought it off his cousin for $20. I like the full tang, rubberized grip, real brass handle, and very sturdy scabbard. It seems plenty durable enough if the knife ever needs to cut someone or something. If I ever need to fend off a bear attack, I will be happy to have this knife on me.

From what I've heard, their larger blades would shatter on you just like this:

update to my last quote: I was recently hacking brush for three weeks in small town rural, mn after a hurricane-force 'tornado warning' rolled through, I was using my 'Stevie D' customized 18" (blade) Columbian Carbon Steel Machete (renamed Silver Dragon) and lending out my hatchet, double-bit axe, chainsaw, and --- united uc276 --- to hack up all the dead-fall into front-yard firepit size chunks. The only major incident was snapping the Silver Dragon in half and the usual chain saw sharpening. Point-in-case is that I still carry, use, and rely on the united uc276... best dvd burner I ever traded off. I feel empty with my broken Silver Dragon, but that can now be made into two different Columbian Steel knives. And I'm trying to talk Stevie-D into making/giving me one of his 100% hand made Kukri/Machete knives.
