Light will run on a NiHM or 10440 (I prefer Eneloop and Efest myself).
Full disclosure: Mode switching is a little bit different when running a 10440 and takes some getting used to. With a 10440, momentarily (without latching or full clicking) press the switch and remain in the first mode for about a second before pressing the button again to go down to the next 2 modes. I've included a video to give an idea. When running a NiHM this is not required as mode switching is normal.
