Last Thursday I received a Gayle Bradley 2 purchased off the exchange. And...wow! I really wasn't expecting to instantly fall for it like I did. It's a perfect size and shape for my hands, screaming sharp, and the overall build inspires confidence in every way for me.

The steel will need maintenance since I live on the Florida gulf coast, but I'm not opposed to wiping it down with the occasional mineral oil like I do for my traditional knifes. I'm also not someone opposed to liner locks, and the GB2 locks up solid.

Anyway, this knife is a beast, and totally unexpected to be a grail knife I didn't even know I wanted. On the days I carry a modern folder (always pair either a modern folder or small fixed blade with a traditional), this will be the one.

Note: this is a personal opinion. Not looking to inspire a debate about steels or locking mechanisms. While I recommend anyone giving this knife a shot, as always YMMV.

I'm glad you like it, brother. I had one briefly and ended up selling it to a friend here (Capo, where you at!!!). I sold him by GB1 also. They are beautiful, strong knives, but I just couldn't bond with either of them.

IMO, you could do a lot worse than that knife, one of my favorite areas of the Spyderco line is the GB knives. They don't have that goofy Spyderco spatula blade shape and they're great working knives. I'm in a flipper phase these days so I rarely use mine, but if I had to cut down my silly collection to just one knife and the Gayle Bradley was the one that was randomly picked for me, I'd be pretty okay with that.

I loved having this one in hand. The way the steel protrudes just a bit from the scales does it for me. Grats on the new knife

Agreed the GBs are about the only spydy that really grabs me these days.

My gb1 is one of my all time favourites, I will have to bite the bullet and get a gb2 one of these days.

What's the problem with the steel on those? Is it D2 or something?

Now that I look at it, the shape of the handle and main portion of the blade (minus the hump) kind of reminds me of the CRK Umnumzaan:

Thanks for sharing. I have had that happen a couple of times and it is fun. Recently I picked up a Delica 4 because it was a good deal. Never thought i would actually like it, but now i think it is amazing. Funny how we can sometimes ignore insanely popular knives and be supersized later when we realize that they are actually really nice.

I love my Gayle Bradley 2.
I use Frog Lube (food safe) on the blade, also living on the coast of Florida.
