mick

From the look of the Cho and the signature line running parallel to the spine, this khuk reminds me of a couple I own made for Tora in the UK.
You may find more information on their site. It looks to be a splendid khuk.

thanks for the reply there is one other thing thats puzzeling me and that is the finish on the end of the handle i thought a metal plate was put on before the tang was peened over.

"Lohar" is another name for blacksmith, like "bishwarkami" or "kami" for short. Nawaraj is a personal name, but might be an occupation name as well ~ where is Beoram when we need him? Anyways, my assumption would be that someone at the shop that builds for Tora made this one "off label" by the sounds of the correspondence from Tora.

Really nice kuk by the way!

Just popping this over to the cantina to get a bit broader look. Great looking khuks:)

Comparing the kami's signature on my only Tora, it looks identical to me - although I don't pretend to read Devanagari:o. If so, the info supplied by Tora as of March 2006 was:
Kami Prem Gaidili, is 24 years old. He is married and supports a family of 6. He has been making kukri since 1998 and is from Jhapa in Nepal

berkly hello
now ive just compared both signatures and as far as i can see there identical
both cho,s look the same except the little bit at the tip yours is a point mine looks like a little crucifix anyway i like it its nice to have a proper history it does look like were getting there slowly once again thanks for all the help guys:thumbup:

Let's see some pics then. Don't be shy.

here you go there all himalayan imports apart from the big one with the brown sheath

guys as i said the ganga ram is 22 inches its companion is a 12 inch model of some sort i dont know its h.i. name

you know i did have 27 h.i. khukeries sold them to buy some paul chen high end katanas then realised bad move real bad so am now in the process
of buying them back some ive lost to other buyers but i can take comfort in knowing i will be able to buy most of the best ones back and that ive some
real nice chen katanas.

the one that looks like a sheath knife is apparently called a chuppi
unfortunatly theres no kami marks on it so i dont know which kami made it
or weather it was made by any of the guys at h.i. the knife looks right for a h.i.
make but the sheath is completely different to the one h.i. makes.

Lalchatri, I'm pretty sure that "chuppi" is from KHHI - I've seen a similar one on their online catalog.

Also, re: the name of the lohar on the Tora-type blade, the name is "Prem Gadaili" (I can read a bit of Devanagri)

thanks for your help sta94
the chuppi has no identifiying marks at all
so there was no way i could identify who made it
thanks mick:thumbup:
