ok fellows heres a mystery over-stamp on a schrade walden 34ot i purchased on the bay in "05. the stamping is upside down compared to the schrade stamping. what i can see is ; uxRte
(the u&x / the t&e areunderlined)
hollywood
calif

the delrin color on this one is uniformly dark with the ends not having the usual lighter color--very much like on old ulster 58ot i have. the spey blade also has a more "pen" look to it also. the "R" in the center is tall with underlining heading out in both directions from its feet. maybe this will ring a bell with somebody someday!-------------brady

It is a similar knife, a Schrade Walden 832. I've always wondered why the two stamps, although both of mine say the same thing.

I'm not real sure of the handles either, but I think it is smooth bone. The back is a lighter color. It might be some kind of plastic too?

Even if Luxrite or other distributors bought a bunch of 2nd's or slightly defective knives
It would seem sort of cheesy to simply restamp the blade with YOUR stamp
Unless there is some legal obligation to stamp it with your stamp

I don't think much is known about Luxrite
Just that they were distributors of mostly kitchen knives in the Hollywood area in the 70's or 80's:confused:
I found out about it because my friend has a Luxrite butchers knife
It looked like an Old Hickory knockoff

I still keep my eye on Luxrite on EBAY
I haven't seen any other Luxrite knives listed since I bought mine about a year ago....

THawk====>
That IS perplexing the 2 same stamps
What does the venerable BRL say??
The only possible explanation I can think of is
Maybe there was a barrel of old knives in the factory they found (or needed)....
"Yeah Jim.....Just use those and run em' through the stamper again...It'll be ok..."

Maybe it was some crazy experiment with an n00bie counterfeiter who had a bunch of tang stamps and a big ol ball peen hammer and a lot of time:eek::confused:

The E on SCHRADE looks kinda weird
The top tip of the E
It's angled up

thanks trent!!!!!!!! iv'e puzzled over this for a long time , i believe your correct. that fixed blade you have there is unmistakably schrade but with that mark. im really glad to know this. i have never heard of that name before. the look ,color , and "pen" looking spey blade lead me to think this 34ot i have is a really early ot example.
if you collect these and your interested in trading let me know.
**********hal , the dark stamping looks like the usual and the lighter larger stamp looks unusual. iv'e never seen that before either--purty neat!!
makes you wonder what they'l say about a h.williams modified in a hunerd years!!!!!!!----------------brady
