Unloved old hickory

I got inspired to go the thrift stores and try and find some decent old kitchen knives, but all they had was cheap stainless junk.

I bought an Old Hickory skinning knife to modify.

I just dont have any way to cut it.

A cold chisel and hammer would let you score a line then you could snap it off with pliers. The rest you could grind or sand out as far as the roughed out edge. You can use a concrete edge to knock down the worst of it.

Save the cut off piece and make a little whittler knife or a paracord wrapped neck knife.

Another vote for the dremel! You are much less likely to ruin the temper on the blade with those small cut-off wheels than with a bench grinder.
