Unmarked 58OT?

Nice knives thawk. Sorry I wasnt trying to imply they werent collectable as well as valuable. I was trying to say that my knifes collectable value couldnt match its sentimental value for me. Mine is very similar to the second from the top on the right side.

Me either, no implication was detected here. I agree with you. I just really like this knife pattern.

Great Thawk,How good do they look? Its only true knife persons like us that can get quite aroused just looking at them mate.............

Appreciate it Larry! Most of those knives in the 55 family picture are unused or slightly used. None of the actual 58OT knives I own would I grade mint. This 855 with the Old Timer Handles is one I favor. I've never seen one like it on Ebay.

With the RB PAT PENDING etch, it probably dates 1964-66, when they were still making the 58OT. It has the Schrade Walden steel, opposed to the Ulster steel that was more like CV.

Like the 58OT, early on, the 855 pattern had a sleek look, using the turkish clip, spey, and pen combination. Later the Schrade 855's were made with a sheepsfoot making it appear not quite as streamlined. In the Ulster 55 pattern, there were both combinations used.

I recently acquired this knife my Grandmother has had put up since 1968 right after my Grandfather died. The blades obviously have suffered but you can tell that there are no tang stamp or marks of any kind. It appears to be a 58OT. My Grandfather was a Prince Albert devotee so that part of the puzzle fits at least. What are your guys thoughts and also would you put an edge on it pocket it or lube it and pack it away. Thanks:)

It is for sure a 58OT with nearly full blades. If you want one to use, I'd use it. It is a great sized knife for the pocket.

Chickenplucker, I have the last knife my grandpa carried a 34OT I carry it ocassionaly, when I do it's as if he is w/ me we were REAL close! I also have my great grandpa's Case 6208 half wittler never met the man so things are a bit different! Just remember sentimental VALUE can't be BOUGHT my .02 worth. I just got my first 58 OT they are real sweet knives now to get one for the EDC rotation.

Nice pic on previous page Thawk, I like the way youve done that, thanks for showing it, are they your own?
Tim

Thanks, Tim. Yep, they are my knives except one which went out in a trade. All pretty much the same frames and blades. A few are jacks.
