So i went out for a hike in my usual area to go look for some wild edibles, take some pictures and find some fatwood...maybe go check on my debris shelter to see how it has held up in the brutal thunderstorms we've had lately ( it was perfectly fine!)

Anyway, i started off hiking up a ridge and a coniferous area and once i got to the top i was Engaged by a pissed of Coopers Hawk. I suspect i was near the nest, but i couldnt find it..It would dive at me, pulling up at the last second and then perch in a tree and b*tch me out ( kek kek kek kek)! it was so totally unbelieveable. here are the pics.

hope you all enjoy the pics!:p

Wow man , wicked hawk pics ! That place is pretty amazing sometimes considering where it is ! I am glad you were able to get away to have some bush time. I betcha that Junglas came in pretty handy.
Had no doubt about your shelter . You do a great job of building them!
The junglas fund is almost topped up...coming soon to a guy who needs one.:D

Awesome pics! ! !

Love them! Also, may have had a fresh kill and you were invading on a possible meal time. Hawks are pretty defensive when it comes to eats. Very cool stuff!

Great pics!!!
Birds of prey are amazing, when you are the prey it gets a little dicey though.

LOL! Atta boy!!!

Great story and pics. Thanks for sharing. (And a really good idea to set up a debris shelter that you can go check on periodically to see how it withstands the elements:thumbup:)

For some reason, I'm really drawn to birds of prey. That is a beautiful specimen you stumbled upon! But it sure would freak me out to see it diving full-speed at me like in that one shot you took.

Great pics.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Awesome pics, I love raptors.

We have a small raptor alot like a cooper's hawk in my neighborhood. I'm not sure of the species but it could be a cooper's, sharpshinned, or swainson's hawk. Has the long, squared off, barred tail too. Alot more bluish-grey twords the back of its head and body. Almost every morning around 7 you can watch it hunt sparrows and such right outdide my window.

I heard a story, don't know how true it is, about a Minnesota wildlife warden. I don't know what they call them up there.(here it's D.N.R.)

Anyway he was out in the forest with a fur hat, like coonskin, or coyote or, something. A great horned owl attacked his hat and injured him so badly that he ended up dying. Or so the story went.

Nice post, and pics. Thanks for sharing. BD

I've never had a bird of prey dive at me, but when I was working on the water tower I had seagulls diving at me. Must be an experience to have that happen! The hawk really looks awesome in the pics. Thanks for sharing

Cool pics.I had an owl buzz me and my dog yesterday.Just a little owl and not a commited attack. When I was a kid out fishing in the boonies of Florida a huge owl kept me pinned down for a couple hours. That guy was serious.
