Hello there, just thought I'd post this and pray something comes up while I go to bed. I typically like to take apart and clean all of my knives. But as of late, I can't seem to find a way to take the pivot apart on my Strider SMF :o

The entire thing spins in place when I try to move one side. I hope that's not a bad thing

I tried searching, but came up with a bunch of Strider vs. Sebenza threads.....

Any and all help is appreciated, J.

There is a tool that you need to d/a a Strider pivot. The spanner goes on one side in the slots and the allen (IIRC) goes in the other side. Rick Hinderer makes the nicest pivot tool I've seen. It has both the allen and the spanner in it and goes on your key chain, but it's close to $100. There are some others available as well for less $.

A hundred bucks  Damn, looks like the pivot will just have to stay a little dingy for now :o

I suppose a little WD-40 can blow out whatever might build up in the pivot until I can figure out a less expensive way to pull the pivot apart :grumpy:

Thank you for your help, J. :)

i could probably make you a tool. i need to make something similar anyways so i might as well make 2.

Wow, that would be great

If you do make them, please email or PM me. I check up regularly throughout the day, so I'll respond promptly.

Let me know what the cost and stuff would be, I'm kinda broke at the moment :o

I just ordered one of these from a guy on the badlands forum. (bad link, see below post for pics)
very inexpensive compared to a lot of the alternatives.

they are 1.5mm brushed and flamed stainless steel

I hope I don't get dinged for spamming, I don't know the guy personally or get anything from showing his tools. I was on the hunt for something like this the other day and I'm just trying to help out J's Knives-N-More

The spinning is normal, you will need to heat up the pivot to break the lock-tight. I have heard of some guys using a soldering iron. I have seen posts in other forums where Mick or Josh begging guys not to take their Striders apart, They say they spend a lot of time "Fixing" knives that where put back together incorrectly. I still can't figure out how a guy could put together a Strider wrong, but they say it happens way to much.
