They face the same way so it can be used as a fist load when closed. Also it would be uncomfortable to have finger notches in your Palm.

Okay, this time I was possessed.
It actually looks worse in person.
When I first saw it I was like WTF?
The devil made me bookmark it.
The more I looked at it, the more I began to reason: maybe it was designed for some particular purpose? maybe some cultural significance? the handle is kinda nice!
Finally it happened, a little voice: just buy it! you know you want to!
So I'm sitting here looking at it wondering WTF?
The handle is kinda nice.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
