unusual case knife

i found a (1953 ) ?? fixed blade knife that the tang mark was just "case". the blade close to stag handle at the top still had 6-8 file like markings. the owner has had it since 1953. is this real or something else.

Search the Case website. They at least have pics of their old letterings and dates of production. Or show us some pics.
