Up and down blade play

OP, no one can access the link to the conversations (your conv. with the other person) you posted, so you might want to add/copy the conversation here... Also, see section 4, rules for feedback (Retaliatory negative feedback ratings can earn you an infraction..) Looks like someone did a no-no ;)

  1. Showed up today, way too much blade play up and down when in the locked position. It will not work for me, I will box it up and send it out to you priority mail tomorrow

    I’m sorry?

There was no up and down play and very little side to side when it left here.

As far as I’m concerned we’re done.

You made a trade offer without asking ANY questions. Then claim the knife that showed up exhibits flaws that I absolutely know it didn’t have when it left. I had only had it back from having the PoBoy done a week ago, it was almost new mechanically.

Then you assume that you’ll be telling me what we’re doing. If it shows up I’ll refuse the shipment and that’s on you.

above is our copied conversations about the blade play.

I am more than willing to send the knife to a MOD for review and comment?

What happened to the everyone is happy with a trade deal? I said I was sending it back to him, I didnt say he had to send my trade knife back, I was open to negoiate until he got an attitude and said we were done. Common theme from folks only looking to make a buck. Its a hobby to me I am not giving up my day job to try and make a living trading ,wheeling dealing on hobbies!

problem with mods. emerson could fix it but wont with mods done, I dont think.

good luck on resolution.

Oh yeah, I’m here.

This guy offers a trade, no questions asked.
I accept.
We receive our respective shipments.
He then starts telling me what’s going to happen and inferring what I’m going to do.
Doesn’t ask to send it back, doesn’t ask if it had problems, doesn’t ask for any insight, nothing.
Then after two messages, leaves me a bad feedback.
As far as I’m concerned the deal was done when he left feedback, as per site rules, that’s the only time you can leave feedback, when a transaction is complete.

I had only had that knife back from customizing for a week. Mechanically it was like new after being worked over and having the mods done. I know for a fact, 100% that there was no up and down play when it left my hands, again it was mechanically new.

I’ll take this on on the chin. I’m about done with this place anyway. And for the record, I’m not a knife flipper. I just have a sort of a compulsion and I buy a ton of knives to try out (across multiple platforms, FB, IG, Reddit, etc.), usually I buy the same knife more than once because it’s a good deal and I want to try it again.

I believe he disassembled it and is having traders remorse.

No disassembly, no traders remorse. Just some concern for the fingers I love so much. This is one of my favorite Emerson models, but I dont feel safe putting it into my useing rotation in its current condition. If that lock lets loose while I am useing it, I could loose a finger or 2.
A normal knife nut (responsible trader not focused on making money and getting over) would say I had the pimp job done on the knife, I will contact the pimper and see if he will take a look at it for you. Instead of "As far as I am concerned we are done"

I would have been more than happy to discuss the issue with you. But, you weren’t focused on discussion. You started out by TELLING me what WE were going to do (trade back).

Then, again, after two messages you left me bad feedback. At that point, in my mind we were done because again, feedback isn’t left until a transaction is complete.

Had you asked I would have gladly put you in touch with the guy that did the work, he’s a personal friend and I’m sure would have absolutely no problem taking a look at it for you.

But, I know what I mailed you and he knows what he sent me. He wouldn’t have sent it to me with flaws in workmanship and had there been up and down play I would have disclosed it, as you said “dude had all good feedback”.

You guys both handled this poorly.
Telling the other, that the knife is going straight back to him, without some amicable discussion, is way too agreesive.
The other guy, quickly leaving negative feedback, is also poor form.
Sometimes trades with strangers need to be handled more delicately, on both ends. If not, there is only communication breakdown, and alienation.

Waaaay too much of this kind of thing in the past year or two, it seems to me. :( I don't remember there being as much in years before that. Maybe I just didn't notice, but I sure do now. A real shame.

calemerson should have asked questions before trading if it was a deal killer to save both parties time and shipping expenses, he also shouldn't have left feedback right away if he deal wasn't finished (i.e. he wanted a different resolution).

A-MAC- Deal isn't done until both parties are happy, it sounded like you were refusing to let him reverse the trade so that he had no other choice than to accept it. While, I think I'd normally be more on you side of this dispute, the quote below is why I'll be blocking both of you.

A deal isn't done until both parties are satisfied. Period.

This is how I've always conducted business here and I have yet to encounter an issue that wasn't solved with a little bit of tact and communication.

Also, a buyer shouldn't have to ask about the condition of an item. It's the sellers responsibility to disclose anything that could be considered an issue, period. As a responsible buyer, I always reiterate and inquire about the specifics of the knife to insure I am satisfied with the stated condition before money leaves my hands, but that's just to be safe.

If OP felt there was an issue with the knife, it would have been good form and a lot less of a headache to simply refund him/trade back.

Yeah, if that little quip isn't a red flag, not sure what is.

Oh no, I’m heart broken.

He didn’t need to ask questions. I didn’t sent him a bum knife. There was no up and down play.

The point is, he didn’t ask about ANYTHING.

Then proceeded to tell me what was going to happen. Not acceptable.
