Always tip up if possible but I can compromise if I prioritize other qualities of the knife over type of carrying.

Actually , fixed carry gives more options ,not less .this problem disappears

Some people are overly concerned that weak detents or assisted/autos will open in the pocket. Tip down keeps the blade spine against the pocket seam (plus gravity keeping the blade closed).Not sure why anyone would consider tip up to be less safe? Can anyone please explain that?
Only if you carry in the front pocket...I think you got it backwards. Tip up keeps the blade spine towards the pocket seam.
