Up The Columbia River… Without a Paddle

I ordered an Ignitor 6855 plain edge Black/green G-10 scales. I love it, deploys faster than my BM Auto Onslaught, though not nearly as sharp. It's the first CRKT I've ever bought, I have a tendency to be a knife snob since I've grown older, and can afford to buy a high quality knife at least every two months. It retails for 60 bucks and I picked it up for 35, shipping included. I really couldn't be happier with this knife. Soild construction, pretty damn sharp.

I've always liked my CRKT plan B, great value for the money. Makes a great light camp knife

I always wanted a titanium handled M16 Big Dog, so when I stumbled across one at a good price I jumped on it.

The price was a little low, so before ordering the knife I emailed CRKT's customer service and asked if the knife might be a counterfeit. A CRKT rep emailed me back a few hours later and told me the vendor selling the M16 was a dealer and not to worry.

I got the knife last week and It's fantastic....

I have had a couple of the Snap Locks and like them just for their unique quality. My latest one (a replacement for one I lost) is very rough opening but their customer service is simply replacing it. No problems. I also have the K.I.S.S. which is kind of cool. Generally, my favorite folders are the Kershaw Leeks (I have four of them in various finishes), the SOG Vulcan (kind of big but a REALLY nice knife) and a Bradley Kimura II Bali (Kershaw produced). I would say that the SOG and the Kershaws are much nicer knives but like the CRKT in a novelty sort of way.

A+ customer service! Replaced my new, very rough opening knife quickly and without any hassle.

I bought the CRKT Ultima a few months ago and I love it. The only gripe I have is that I wish they wouldn't have gone with the glossy finish. I was under the impression that it was matte, so now that it's all scratched up, it looks like crap.

As for the knife itself, it is full tang and solid. The pry bar at the end of the handle is really nice and has come in handy a few times. The handle is perfect. It fits my hand well and has an awesome no-slip grip. The veff serrations are great (if you are a serration kind of guy). They are the best I have seen. I bought mine from amazon so I saved like 40 bucks off their suggested price. Overall, I think it is a pretty good Knife and I was happy with my purchase.

I also got the m16-12z a few days ago, and while I haven't gotten to do too much with it, it seems like an excellent folder. I like the auto-lawks (i know some people don't) and the flipper is quite handy. The knife feels solid and is pretty sharp.

Thus far I have been happy with the CRKT products I've used, so no hate here.

I decided to give this knife a hard trial run. Started using it for my EDC. Noticed a little blade play after a few days, I have a bad habit of flipping knives open all-day, a little Loctite, torqued the screw, no blade play. Yesterday, I was in my office with my back to the door, I was opening a small plastic bag w/this knife, someone walked into my office and I jumped. In short, I, literally cut the end of my thumb off, deep enough to hit a small artery. Blood everywhere. Emergency room visit ensued, it would not stop bleeding. They had to cauterize it, they made me stay the night in the hospital. Revision on blade sharpness, "pretty damn sharp" to sharp as a f***ing razor. Good knife:) Bad finger :o

I have an old "First Strike" fixed blade that has been a pretty rugged knife. I tried one of their folders, but gifted it to a friend who liked it more than I did.

I own two CRKT knives; a Razel stubby which I bought about a month or so ago and a Ringed Razel. Could not get used to the Ringed Razel. So far I like the stubby and have been carrying it as an EDC (with my SAK) for the last month or so. It needed some work on the edge in the front, but after I sharpened it, it has done just fine for my uses.

I didn't know that their knives are made in China. [Please correct me if I am wrong!] I noticed the stubby after I bought it that it said China made or something like that on the box. It is not on the knife, and that bothers me. More than likely, no more CRKT knives for me.

I just picked up my first ever CRKT, a Folts Minimalist necker. The thing is tiny and came with a surprisingly good edge. I touched it up on my Sharpmaker and now it whittles hair. I don't know how well the steel will hold up, but I plan on finding out soon.

For how little I paid, it's a very well made and well designed knife. Micarta scales, good ergos, great kydex sheath, and a very nice wharncliffe.

I'm not knocking CRKT, they have some nice designs, however I have learned they do not always have great finished products. Someone mentioned they seem to do OK with the lower cost knives; that sounds fair.

I've got way too many knives to rationalize, and one is Ken Onion's Leek. It has become an iconic knife now, and it deserves to be. When I saw his Eros for CRKT, I was breathing heavely; but decided I'd best get a chance to look one over before plunking down the bucks.

I'm not a fan of their steels since they stopped using ATS34.
I've had many, many CRKT knives and liked most of them. Their customer service is outstanding. That being said, the only ones I have left are a M1 Greg (Lightfoot design) a Tank of a knife and a couple fully serrated Apaches.

My EDC is a serrated Bear Claw, which would be awesome for fighting (haven't had the need to use it for defense). Can't really use it for much else though. I just go the Zilla tool and am not overly happy with it. My Gerber multi tool was a much better multi user than it. I do have a wind river which I love and I had a Mirage Gray Ghost (Non-serrated) that I need to replace, it was my favorite folder ever, so if anyone out there is sitting on an extra one please let me know. Got pulled over one day and while the trooper was tossing my car he asked to "hold on to" my knife for his safety. That was a sad day for me when I realized: not only did I get a $100 speeding ticket but he "forgot" to return it to me. CRKT is great in my book and if I didn't have the Busse bug I would be adding more to my collection.

Most of mine were purchased for the novel designs: KISS, Stiff KISS, Turtle, Rolox, Snap Lock...

I'd probably buy more if they used better steel on some models (AUS4, c'mon now).

Although I'm not a fan of their "tactical"-style knives, one old model stands out as being very well made, the Grey Ghost Mirage.

Got this about 2 years ago:

It's really not bad--centered blade, no blade play, nice LAWKS system. The only issue is that the grind is too thin and is actaully not properly done at the tanto angle.

Anyone mentioned the hallmark CRKT Turtle nail knife yet?
