The Thread a knife, water bottle, and a flint got me to thinking after reading the post by long bow about having a big pot to take a long on our trip for a month in the woods. I decided to add an extra canteen cup to my kit or kits shall I say. Pics on them later. I put nalgene water bottle in a titaium cook set called the Solo by snow peak. The lid fits in the bottom of pouch. Next the water bottle goes into the small pot or cup what ever you want to call it. Then the canteen and cup go into the pouch too. Now comes the how to add more to it well I have some other canteen cups so I put that on top of the water bottle. Now what about a third cup  The solo kit comes with a cup of its own so I went a put that on the top of the water bottle too it fits over the second canteen cup. So I went from just having one canteen cup to now three canteen cups:D:D. It still is not like having a really big pot but I think this will work out better here are some pics and tell me what you think.
Adding the two cups just added a couple more ounces no big deal I can live with it. I am still under 10 pounds for my kit.
Now I have to do this with all my kits.

Bryan,

Any more details about the set up (several setups, looking at the pics?)

Thanks,

I as well, especially the one in the front on the right. Are any of those NATO canteens.

Hi all, The nalgene water bottle carrier I got at a store in Lincoln Nebraska
called Scheele's I have also ordered off the internet by looking up Nalgene water carriers Thses are the multi size carrier or they can be called bottle carrier w/shoulder strap adjustable fit.
The black pouch that is attached to the shoulder strap is a pouch that I got from brigade quartermasters it is m-16 mag holder that holds four 30 round
magazines they were around are about $25.00 almost twice what the bottle carrier cost:eek: I had to do a little sewing to get the pouch to attach to the shoulder sling but that is pretty much it. I have different knives attached to the water bottle plus I have a u-dig-it folding shovel an each and a mag light pouch attached to each on too. Only one kit has a pair of bino with it.

I hope I have answered your ?s But if not let me know.

I have tried all kinds of ways to carry knife, firesteel, water, fak, survival kit and pot to boil water and cook in and that is small to go with me anywhere. If I am riding in my truck I just put it down on the floor boards right behind my feet. I can even drive with this kit slung and my shoulder. Pack sacks, butt packs, day bags etc. I have tried so many different carrying systems and always end up comming back to the shoulder type kit.
I do have a BOB that is a back pack and can carry alot more gear but who is going to carry that just to walk out the door and go to your car and drive 2 blocks to the store to pick up a can of tuna or what ever and then drive home and lug that back pack around all that time. I am not but this shoulder kit has the basics Knife, water bottle and cooking pot, first aid kit, survival it, spoon, hand saw, smaller fixed blade knife, all the stuff that I can put into that kit and carry it so easly. I can even walk in the city park and no one can even see that I have a chris reeves 7" blade attached to the kit because my arm covers it. What people see is a water bottle first and a small black pouch that is it unless I move my arm to show them which I do not do AND If someone
asks what is in that small pouch I say I never leave home without my first aid kit.
These shoulder kit are pretty easy to carry.

Will you provide the link? Thanks!

Sicily02,
Do you have 4 of these set ups?
Do you sell them or do you have them in different places?

I also would suggest something to purify water; if you don't have it.

Hi everybody glad to here some comments back on this.
dextersp1 Yes I have a kit that stays in my truck, car, and right beside the door going out of my camper ( my wife and I are full time RVers and live in Jayco Designer 5th wheel ) I just reach down and sling it over my shoulder
and away I go. Now if I am going to be using the truck or car I do not take the one from my camper since both vehicles have a kit.
No I do not sell them.
Yes I have made up more kits for my wife, my sister and her hubby and son,
even my MOM has one and she is 65 this year: mom wanted a small fixed blade and larger knife for he kit that has a 12" BLADE:eek: but my sister and her hubby just have small fixed blades for there kits like you see in the pics of the rat-3. The rat-3 is not bulky and just slides right in that pouch on the side of it. My nephew has a rat-5 and little hachet from swamprat knife works. My wife and I both use rat-3s in the pouch and have a Chris Reeves Project II attached to the water bottle pouch. And then I carry Lee Reeves double bit hatchet between my kits it moves around from car kit to truck kit and now as I write this up is on the house kit.
As for water purifcation I have in the med kits some katadine tablets but mostly wood use the metal cups for boiling up water.

Well I hope this answers your ?s and if not let know. Again thinks for the comments:D
