Ok guys.......I just reluctantly sold my Large Plain Inisingo, and Small Inkosi to downsize and try out the One knife lifestyle. I was dead set on testing the waters with the large Inkosi.

Some of you know that I had and LOVED my small Inkosi, and desperately wanted to try out the larger version.

Fast forward to Yesterday..............

I ordered one Brand new from KA and it showed up in my mail box arounf 12 noon yesterday.

I was instantly excited about the knife and it feels amazing in the hand. It was actually made 10 days from the day it arrived at my door step. Freshout of the oven!! 1-11-17.

I was woried about handle because they can only design the handle to fit so many sizes and shapes of hands. But this one feels as though it was made for xl-xxl hands and feels better than any other knife I have ever owned.

The action, just like my small, is smooth as silk. Smoothest CRK I have owned to date. Solid build like all crk's and immediately put it in my pocket.

I had a busy day yesterday. My sons had Ice Hockey, took them to a movie, and then went to dinner with some friends. Still at this point, I really have not looked over the knife with a fine tooth comb. But I also have not even cut anything with it at all.

Heres where I need some advice/opinions/help......... Last night I looked over the blade with a closer eye, and it has one of the worst blade grinds I have ever had on a knife. One side is perfectly ground, and its like they forgot to make another pass on the other to even it out.

So I slept on it, not sure what to do. I certainly cannot return it to KA after being in my pocket for 5-6 hours. Although it has not been used for a single thing, to me this thing is considered used because the pocket clip now has a noticable sign of being in my pocket.

So this morning, I went outside to get in some better lighting and look over the blade. I was able to take some pictures, while not the best quality, you can clearly see what I have here.

And I did not notice this until now, but you can actually see some heat discoloration on the tip of the blade in person and in the one photo.

Not sure what to do at this point. Im guessing that most of you will tell me to contact CRK and/or send it in to them.

Im just really really bummed and dont want to be without it for a month, and now thinking that I may have made a mistake getting rid of two perfect examples of CRK's for this.

Here are the photos. Please let me know what you think. As of right now, I am not carrying it. Its sitting in the box.

I would have to agree that the grinds look a bit off; it's not just you.

Contact either KA or CRK. I'm sure either one will gladly take care of you.

Its worse in Person. Im not a picky person that picks knives apart either. Hell, the day I get a knife, I usually put it through hell and back.

Im more concerned with the Tip that has some heat discoloration on it from the grind. Im wondering if it had any efect on the RC of the blade in that area.

I contacted both CRK and KA about this situation.

Just Baffles me that it got through like this. Every other CRK I have owned has been PERFECT in every way.

What would you guys do?? Suggestions?? Thoughts?? Send it in and wait a month to have it fixed?

A minute on a belt grinder at CRK would fix it. I don't think it would be gone that long since it's a minor repair (for them).

It happens in production large quantities of anything when humans, an imperfect system, are responsible for controlling perfection.
Sometimes it's hard to understand unless you are there, running thousands of the same part, assembling hundreds of the same items, day-after-day.
Until our robot overlords take over, I am afraid that this will happen from time to time.

You know.......I was not going to post that on there because I knew I would get some opposition. I actually deleted it and went back and put it in.

I completely understand that there is going to be human error in anything that's mass produced.

I guess I should have been more specific in what I was getting at.

Every one that I have purchased in the past was perfect. Like chris himself looked it over to make sure every one was out the door 100%

I realize that there will be human error ans understand it completely. Things happen.

I'm just bummed because I was very hyped up about this purchase. And maybe a little apprehensive because I sold two perfect examples of crk to do so.

That's an ugly grind for sure....

It happens man, humans make mistakes.

Send it in, and I am sure it will come back perfect.
Even the best production methods with the best QC will let a few slip by....

Totally understood

With growth comes pain and it turns into a numbers game. I can imagine back in the day, spot checking could be done on a far larger sample than it can be today without adversely affecting production or cost of production.

Not a good grind. I'd call CRK and ask them what to do. They want to help. I don't think it'll end up as a big thing.
I really liked your initial opinion on your lg Inkosi. That gets my excitement level up as I wait for mine.
Hope your experience turns out good.

The inkosi line is truly one of the best CRK options there is.

Smoothest deployment, buttery smooth, lockbar never sticks or feels put of place.

Ergo's are PERFECT. Blade is hefty enough that I would have no qualms about some prying with it.

Its the perfect balance of rugged ans crk refinement. Such a great knife.

Once this is all taken care of.....I will most certainly give a full review.

It's definitely confidence inspiring in the hand. All my 21's felt like I had to be careful with it. The insingo was the only one that has a design to allow it for "harder" use than the 21. But the inkosi is definitely a cross between the umnumzaan and 21. They had a baby and it's a bruiser.

I wish I could be out using the heck out of this thing today. Lots to do outside the house today.

But rest assured......I will provide a full review of what this thing can do

Turn around time may not take that long, in the past they have made defects a priority.. nice knife. I bet that is a hoot to watch the youngsters play hockey

Oh yes. Sometimes I get on the ice with them. The are pretty cool kids in general.

Really hard to take pictures to show what I mean here.

Yo I have the same discolouration on my Inkosi tip. They heated it up while grinding and burned the steel. It is like a tiny bit of bronze colour. Now if this took place on the edge I would be freaking out and sending the knife in. This is because discolouration from burning means the heat might have screwed up the temper of the knife. However since it is only a tiny bit on the spine i don't mind since I don't need the spine to hold an edge. For now I just tell myself it's differentially heat treated.

Luckily mine camee with a great edge ornI would be pissed.

I have a large 21 micarta wirh same grind issue but for me not a big deal since i own a Wicked Edge and can reprofile. If you have a similar system i would recommed the same.

Otherwise send it to CRK

This is a very easy fix. Just send to CRK with a note, and they'll fix you up no problem.

I'm sure your turn-around-time will be quick, since the problem with the knife originated on their end. Should be no return shipping charge either if they understand the issue.

Send it in or fix it yourself.
As heart breaking as it is, it only proves CRK does on occasion and I mean on occasion let on slip out the door lees than perfect. Which I'm glad it happens, that way I don't expect perfection and there's always room for improvement. Which means to me, CRK hasn't reached their pinnacle making knives that are perfect for me.
