Update. KNIFE HAS RETURNED! New Large Inkosi.....Need advice/opinions Please

Gizler00,

Better to send to CRK, sending back to KA will take longer since more than likely they will just send to CRK themselves.
Call CRK, they're fantastic people and will fix it for free.
I'm more than sure they will even cover return shipping once they see it.
Since it's a goof on their part.
I had something similar happen to me, called CRK and they fixed it quick!

That is not an asymmetrical blade grind. It is an asymmetrical edge. BIG difference. The former is a huge issue on an expensive knife and is totally unacceptable. The latter is just less than perfect but would certainly "irk" a high end knife enthusiast.
If that was MY fancy new Inkosi, I would also not be happy to make the $445 leap only to send it off for repair. I do expect perfection, not only from CRK, but from any knife maker charging more than, say even $100+ for their product. Having said that, the issue is aesthetic only and can be remedied through a year of regular maintenance. I would keep my new buddy and when I sharpen it I would address the issue a little at a time by only sharpening on the right side of the blade. All that is necessary on the left is a standard burr removal and all will be well soon enough! Enjoy your Inkosi. I very much look forward to the day when I'm able to order one!

I would send it back to CRK asap. You'll hate that edge and cringe everytime you take out your knife. So the sooner the better IMO.

I would also enquire and expect all shipping costs and labour to be covered by them when they see what they sent out the door.

Normally I would do this on something like a Spyderco PM2, or something of the same value. But with a knife of this caliber, I feel as though I should not have to.

This s so true. If I do not send it it, I will regret it every time I pull it out of my pocket.

This is a very easy fix. Just send to CRK with a note, and they'll fix you up no problem.

Planning on it.

I'm sure your turn-around-time will be quick, since the problem with the knife originated on their end. Should be no return shipping charge either if they understand the issue.

Hopefully it will be fairly fast. I want to use this thing!!

Send it in or fix it yourself.
As heart breaking as it is, it only proves CRK does on occasion and I mean on occasion let on slip out the door lees than perfect. Which I'm glad it happens, that way I don't expect perfection and there's always room for improvement. Which means to me, CRK hasn't reached their pinnacle making knives that are perfect for me.

Im going to send it in

I Called CRK just a few moments ago and they told me to send it in. They will look over the knife to see if it can be reground, and if not, a possible blade replacement will take place. She said to put on the warranty form that no spa treatment is needed and that should cut the turn around time down to about 10 business days.

So....Its going out in the morning.

Thanks for all the advice and comments guys. I will keep you updated on the situation.

Such stellar CS here. They emailed me this evening and even said that they will cover all shipping costs. Reimburse me for the shipping there. And also Said they would make this fix a priority when it arrives!!

Asymmetric sharpening bevels and a heat discolored tip - that's sloppy for such an expensive knife. Glad to hear they're taking care of you.

admitted my eyes arent the greatest but from what I can see in the images that is hardly worth the fuss... the factory edge is not a precision edge... its done freehand as I understand it... my WE would fix that in no time

Great news!

Looking forward to the "after" pics.

Gizler00,

Yep, like I said, CRK are fantastic people to deal with!
When u call you get a live person that genuinely cares.
They reply to emails quick and fix goofs like this fast.
Love my Large CF Inkosi 😉

Bummer!
Never had this on mine, but I have yet to get a very sharp knife from them.
Not everyone has a WE or EP.

Glad to hear you're sending it in to the factory. The blade geometry and edge of a $445+ knife should be perfect. CRK prides themselves on quality. I'm very confident CRK will take care of the situation. Let us know how it works out.

It happens time to time and more often as of late, my last two brand new inkosis showed up one with a loose pivot and nasty blade play and the other was off center. At first I was baffled they made it past quality control but we are only human

Me too. Cant wait to get it back.

It is very hard to capture when taking a picture with a cell phone. But trust me.... it was horrible. I am not one to EVER complain about edges, but at this pricepoint, I am not going to take the time to fix it.

If it was a BM or a spyderco, I would have no issues getting it like this.

This is a first for me. All my past CRK's were absolutely perfect in every way straight from CRK.

I agree. I have no doubts that they will make it right.

Human error is an unavoidable thing for sure. Cant wait to get it back.

Checked the tracking just now and it says delivered. So I Gave them a call and the girl who answered had me hold on while she checked.

Made it there without a hitch. She said they are getting ready to check in and start processing it.

Very excited!!! I really cant wait to get this thing back in my possession and put it to work!!!

I'll chime in here even though the knife is already where it needs to be in order to get fixed.

I had an issue with a Small Inkosi that had some really bad lock stick. I sent it in to them, and not only did they take care of the issue in a timely manner and ship the knife back on their dime, then REFUNDED me the cost of shipping the knife to them. I'll be that's what they do in this case as well.

If I was a gambling man, I would bet you have this knife back in your hands in about 2 weeks.

Looking forward to your thoughts and or pics of new blade!

I will report back when it arrives
