UPDATE Moral Dilemma resolved, the dogs owner showed up.

You did everything you could to find the dogs owner, don't do anything just keep her, now If someone comes up to your place with a few teary eyed kids looking for their lost dog I would give it back, otherwise I'd tell whoever else that lost the dog, stuff sh*t you found her and probably saved her life now shes yours. BTW Kudos to you my friend it's nice to see that people still have a soft spot for animals, great thing you did there your a classy guy.

Winter is gone so this is not as important, but still tasty..

(3) Cooking instruction

After boiling the meat with gravy and stalk of taro for some time, boil again

Make sure you get the meat out of the cheeks. It is very tender, and delectable. You can make soup with the cheek meat.

On the real side.....

Once you feel you have done your due dilligence, keep the dog, and advertise it no more. It sounds like an abandonment probably. If you did not, the dog would have been road kill, or food chain, so you done good.

I knew there was a reason I liked you T.

Well her owner showed up and picked her up this afternoon, he showed up with a picture and cryed when he found out we had the dog. We were callin' her Puppy 'cause that seemrd to be what she responded to, turns out that is her name and she's sittin' with the little 5 year old girl who's been missin' her. I'm glad she's back home but we'll all miss her.

My wife and daughter cried, the owner was nice enough to take me over to where my daughter worked and even waited for her boyfriend to show up so they could say goodbye to the puppy.

We did the right thing and reunited the puppy with her family, how come everyone here is so sad?

I'm glad the little girl and the owner got their pet back again, when the shoulder feels better I'll tell ya'll the saga of how a dog from Wayne NJ came to be in North East PA.

It's sad for now, but it's happy overall.

You and your family doubtlessly -- doubtlessly -- saved that dog's life; it would not have survived long (probably not overnight) in "the wild." That is a huge and great thing to have done. Hopefully, the owner will get the dog chipped ASAP.

He said he was gonna do that, and the dog had a collar with a tag but the person who was watchin' her took the collar off and when he lost the dog he didn't tell the family for almost 2 weeks, the guy was ridin' around house to hose with a picture of his dog and all the people I let know, led him to my house, he was in tears when he saw the dog and the dog ran right into his arms, visibly happy to be reunited, it's not always easy to do the right thing but it is what I'd want if some one found one of our family pets.

Too bad "Puppy's" the only Cavalier King Charles Spaniel out there.

UPDATE: All sarcasm aside, sad as you may feel now, when you look back at this in the future you'll have fond memories of seeing this family reunited.

Agreed! As hard as it was for you to let the dog go, I'm glad it found a safe haven when it needed to, with people who cared for it generously, and that you were able to witness its unambiguously happy reunion with its family. (Imagine how hard it would have been if the man at the door had the correct picture and paperwork, and the dog cowered away from him...? Or if its ownership were still unclear?)

You handled this so very well.

Thanks for the update.

You and your family are now heroes. I suggest you all go do something nice for yourselves because doing the right thing also can leave us sad sometimes.

One of my co-workers had a research rotation out-of-state for 4 months. She asked me to watch her cat for the time. As we are a cat family (owned 2 at the time) it was not difficult. Having 4 kids in the house, though, made it extremely difficult to give Franklin back. He had become part of the family. I can relate to the sadness. But at least we knew in advance that we would have to give him back. We had hoped otherwise, though.

Still waiting for the story... :D

We got our most recent cat from the county shelter through the foster program. Even though I know that eventually some family may eventually adopt a pet I was fostering, I still think I'd have a hard time letting go. My sister-in-law in FL fosters retired race dogs, (Greyhounds,) and she says they're the sweetest dogs. Only problem is they run like hell whenever the phone rings. (just kidding about that last part.)

absolutely best thing you could have done. props to you for going out of your way to try to find this dog's original home. we have a pup and if we lost her our house would be a mess. i would not sleep a wink till i found her, my wife either. good for you man and good for that pup

Nobody ever said doin' the right thing was easy, if it was, everyone would be doin' it and the world would be a much nicer place.

All that aside. I believe there are more people nice people than mean people, now if we're talkin' stupid people that's a whole new ball game. ;)

Good on you Ted!

That must have been difficult, but at least there was a happy ending of sorts.

100% accurate ^

Just a quick update, the puppy's owner Emailed my daughter an update on the dog, said the dog and his daughter haven't been apart since bein' reunited, the took the dog to the vet to get checked out and other than a good teeth cleanin' and nail trimmin' the dog was in great shape. They also had someone come out and groom the dog.

He sent my daughter some pics, (I'll post the pics when my daughter sends 'em to me and said the dog seemed a little confused, like she was lookin' for someone (my daughter?) It was nice that he sent her the pics and an update, it gave her and my wife closure.

To quote my daughters boyfriend, who's wise beyond his years, "...it's all good...".
