Here is the glued up small utility knife I am about to finish. I have another one like this and a kind of nessie looking knife that have also been heat treated. I went to high with the 40 g on the flat grind and this is the blade that is kind of thin on the blade side. This was due to using only the 40g and then trying to get the scratches out. I did the best I could but its a lesson learned. Man I had no idea micarta was so messy on the belt grinder. I need to invest in a mask. Man, I loved making this and the others. I know they aren't the best or prettiest but I made them and that just tickles me pink. Thanks, and comments are welcome.

Nice work. Thanks for the heads-up on the micarta.

I too hope my second knife turns out prettier than my first. :)

Looks good to me so far. I would highly recommend that you do not do any more grinding on that micarta without a mask of some sort. You don't want that stuff in your lungs.

You already know the problems and just know that lessons learned the hard way are lessons remembered..... I have had many.

Agreed, I've been there and done that with micarta. You don't want it in your lungs. Get a respirator before you finish that handle.

Thanks for the comments and advice guys. I will be looking into a respirator today. I will probably go with a Home Depot model since funds are tight. Thanks.

When you are HD get some 220 and 320 sand paper, Micarta sands really easy and will make a nice finish. But the dust protection is top priority.
