Update on the Military?

:thumbdn: to the compression lock unless its made as part on the handle like on the ATR then

I still think I would prefer the BB lock to the comp. lock but my first choice would be a lockback, however I don't see any chance of that happening. I'm sure someone will be along soon to talk about the inferiority of the lockback design and that it adds to much weight

I would also like to see tip-up carry. Maybe a slighly thicker tip to. I like the new jimping on the Delica 4 as it seems to have much better grip so it would be nice to see that on the Military.

As long as the subject has been opened, are there any particular changes you would like to see on the Military?

I like the big and deep jimpings. Like on the Military and Native below. I do NOT like the small shallow jimpings, like on the new Endura Wave. The big deeper ones are more grippy to me.

I like G-10 alot. Maybe something grippier that G-10? The grippier the better.

I would like to see a deep pocket clip.

I like the curvature of the edge. Thats something I would like to stay the same. It seems to flow with my cutting stroke.

Thank you.

Compression lock..new clip (preferably one that doesn't have sharp edges) that's all..
And how about a sprint run in prepreg CF?

4 way clip. DON'T CHANGE THE BLADE SHAPE PLEASE! Flat top, flat grind, and pointy as hell is the way I like it.

Compression lock. Keep it the same weight +/- 15 percent would be ok. ZDP189 is probably not on option considering it's Japanese.

I don't care about the lock being flipped, but I'd like the ability to put the clip on the other side. I also like how a compression/liner/frame lock keeps the frame open so stuff doesn't gather inside.

Rather than doing a lefty sprint run (which, for what it's worth, I'm 90% sure i'd buy), wouldn't it make more sense just to start making them with a reversable clip, perhaps 4-way for those wanting tip-up carry?

I have a Military. I think it it great just the way it is. I bought it for the open back design and because it does not have clip holes bored all over the beautiful G10 scales. I think the liner lock is super, no blade play-ever. I trust it 100%. With all this talk about 4 way clips and such, I sure am glad I have the original.:)

Oh yes, multi-clip configurations sound good to me. Extra holes for more functionability is ok with me.

I also strongly oppose to any changes. Like Delica IV is not a Delica any more - it is more practical, may be, but this blade just does not looks right any more - just does not flow with knife overall shape. It lost its "sharm".

Please keep Military as it is - original. There is term something like - optimal construction and this is most likely exactely optimal construction. I'll wellcome different colors or steels but please do not change overall design.

Thanks, Vassili.

I'd like to see the old style thumb ramb jimping as well. I thing the winged BB lock would be great. The blade shape and grind is perfect, as is. I'm not all for the Compression lock, as I've never seen one that didn't have some play.

How about making it with a stainless steel scale for the lock side and G-10 (or carbon fibre?) for the other scale, like a Strider.

I would like a tip down titan framelock with one side g-10. That to me would almost be the perfect knife.

One compression lock is one too many for me. The problems just dont seem to justify the strength.

is there any reason to expect and update in the next 6-9 months or is it looking like the next model year at the earliest? just trying to plan my purchases is all... thanks!!

What problems ? I'm curious because I have two with compression locks and neither has any problems (Lil T and para).

I've had problems with bladeplay and when that was fixed I had the blade tang rubbing against the scale during opening cause the lockbar had too much pressure on the blade. After I fixed everything my lockbar lost tension and had to be sent back to Spyderco for fixing. Now that it's back it functions very nicely but the lock is really sticky sometimes.

I'm sure many people have had better luck with their comp locks, but these locks seem very inconsistant. There have been many reports of bladeplay in these locks.

And well comp locks just arent very fun to play with.

I want to see compression lock and partial bilateral liners ala para. I want it to be a big para.

You know what I've been thinking of with the choiled spydercos I own? Flipper. It seems like it's almost done for you.

CF is cool, and having a run of it in would be neat, but G10 has earned a lot of my confidence and I'm just fine with it.

Ergonomically, I really like the divider for the pinkie on the dodo. I also don't like the bump inbetween the ends of the handles.
