......Update on the new model for TKI

Thank you Rubi. You just saved me alot of time. I've been clicking back and fourth for like an hour now looking at those pics from beginning to end. I can't stop staring at them. Just a gorgeous design. I hope to see one in person someday.

Rob,
I'm not sure that you noticed it buuuut...the one on the left has my name on it...:p

Ha, I was actually thinking the same thing. But they laser engraved "someone else's" last name on it. :p

That one above, that almost looks bronzed black is sweet. I like how they anodized the thumb studs on some of them too.

Very neat to see how the whole process comes together.

Rick

I need some opinions, between the new model and XM18 3.5 Gen 4, which one is more beautiful? For me, I still prefer the XM18 Gen 4.

Well since I see Rick's signature on them---these all fall into the custom category. Not all Gen 4 3.5,'s are customs. But, Customs tend to most always be more "beautiful".

Totally subjective question and while I realize it was posed as "opinions" probably not appropriate for this thread. Fair conversational question for another place at another time. Here - it's a little like while visiting a Friend and while His Wife is unveiling Her latest creation saying, "I dunno Guys, what do you think.... I like the one last month's better".
Just not good form to ask or a point to advance in conversation.

When did this happen?! I Take a Break From Blade Forums for a while, because I was Spending Way too Much$ on the Exchange, and this happened!! WOW, someday!!

Congrats To RHK, you guys hit this one out of the ballpark! It is just totally amazing what comes out of your shop!

Custom Hinderers are truly tops, I only have kind and flattering things to say about them...almost to a point of gushing.

Rick and crew, these are brilliant! You guys did such a great job with this new model. They truly are works of art but very tactical at the same time. I don't think I've seen any other hand ground grinds quite like Rick's...such great talent. Rob, thanks a lot for the updates. I really appreciate it! Can't wait to meet you guys at Blade this year!

My quick take so far.....I love the sleek look of the new knife, the linear design reminds me of the Firetac. I love the brute look of the XM series too.....win, win! The new knife is built on XM-18 3.5" hardware, the lockside, blade, etc are all the same thickness as well. I don"t believe that was the original plan, but you can only do so much in 2 weeks! The ergos are all Hinderer, it feels familiar in the hand of anyone who has carried a Hinderer will probably dig it. Looks, that's all personal, I love them both. If you are cruising SHOT and run into Rick or I, we'll likely be carrying one if you want to check it out. If not, the TKI attendees will be the first to get their hands on them. The future of the knife....I have no idea past next weekend. If there was a vote involved, I would certainly would vote that we make it, I am all in! Everyone at the shop is enthusiastic about it as well, I know Rick is stoked because he snagged the working finish one right off the bat and put it straight in his pocket. That's rare for him, he normally settles for a knife made from scrap parts or he takes the test mule after it has been flogged.

I recall a similar conversation about this knife from Blade 2012.........To be continued. :)

As many others have said, that WF is truly amazing.

You guys are so skilled at your craft. Thank you so much for the progress pics along the way.

Congratulations to whomever gets to call any of these blades their own.
