I made a post on the infamous Case peanut a little while ago. It was about how the Case SS was sub par at best for the tasks I had it perform. Well, a fellow forumite sent me a Queen Gunstock in D2 with cocabolla handles. I said I would give a brief review/summary on the knife and here it is.
It has been about five, maybe six, months since this knife has been sent to me, by Morrow_J. It hasn't left my side since the day I received it in the mail. It has honestly been the first decent knife I've owned (I have bought and received a few other knives, some compare to the Queen, but those are all safe queens now.) in a very long time. I have used the knife for literally everything you can think of. The first time I took it out of the package, the knife was super, shaving sharp and it took me forever to finally figure out that D2 was a much more resistant steel and took quite some time to finally get the knife hair shaving sharp after I dulled it.
The knife was amazing when I first got it, I didn't wanna even open the blades because I was to afraid of accidentally breaking the knife or something. At first, I didn't wanna cut into the wrong material, so I continued to abuse the Peanut for a little bit, until I needed a longer blade one day while we were ripping up some carpet in an apartment that had caught on fire 5 months previous to us being in there. I brought out the knife and it wizzed through that carpet like it wasn't even there. I FELL IN LOVE! The blades are very thin and accurate, and they sharpen up like a dream as long as you keep them touched up. I made the mistake of letting the knife get pretty dull before I sharpened it, I learned the reason people make threads on just sharpening QUEEN D2 steel. When I was at the apartments doing maintenance, I used the knife to cut everything from wire to carpet, trimming wire, you name it and I did it.
Shortly after I got laid off from that job so I decided to pursue my career in plumbing again and landed a commercial job. Oh boy did this knife get a work out. It turned from a safe queen into a monster cutter. It was my go to tool and rode front left every day. I used the knife for evvvverryything and it has held up to all the abuse I can throw at it.
There is only one thing I see wrong with the knife though. I think it has killed my addiction to find that perfect edc. I've tried to edc a couple other blades on the side, but I always have the Queen with me and it always gets used first before the other knife. It is my end-all, be-all knife. (Thanks Morrow_J)
Here's a couple pictures.
