I have decided to ask the porch to pick which traditional knife I will carry for the month of March. So far this year, I have carried a white bone GEC 36 for January...

And a Bunny knife for February...

Here are the options for March.

Please select your choice in the poll, and if you have a reason you selected one, post what your reasoning is in the thread. The poll will close in 2 days, and the winning knife will spend the month of March in my pocket.

Thanks to all who participate!

UPDATE: POLL CLOSED

After a couple days, the poll is now closed. The winning knife is the Case Texas Jack!

I voted the 81. I have one that I haven’t carried much and I’m curious to read how it goes for a month.

Lol I picked the Texas jack
So do I? Of all people, need to explain my reasoning 😁
I think we can let you slide. The Texas Jack is the oldest of the options by several decades, and has a beautiful patina on the blades. A great option.

I've carried this one a few times, and it pockets very well, but I find myself only using one of the blades. I am also curious how it would go after a month. Maybe one blade for food and one for other cutting tasks?
Here’s my vote…

Why? I think GEC nailed this pattern. Lotta knife; small pocket space

Probably the most practical for what I use a knife for every day, but I guess we will see how the poll turns out.

First Choice: Cattleman It looks like the patina needs some work. (unless it is one of the rare 440C knives that can't patina.)
First Choice Alternate: Pair the Cattleman with the Bunny. 😇

Second Choice: TIE: The one to right of the Cattleman OR the Daddy Barlow.

Is the Yellow Rose a Muskrat with two clip point blades?

I chose the grand daddy because it is the one I have in my pocket and I am really enjoying it.I usually carry a case moose or GEC moose so I like a bigger pattern and the grand daddy just feels right

Grand daddy barlow vote cast. Go big or go home!

Grand Daddy was made to be used .

It really is a large knife, but feels fine in my pocket. The large blade makes it very useful in the kitchen too. Surprisingly, the older Grand Daddy I have is even larger!

I don't really know what YOUR knife wants, needs, and preferences are, so all I can do is tell you what I would choose if I were going to pick one of those knives as my only carry for the entire month of March. 🤓

If I'll have only one knife for the whole month, I'd want it to have the versatility that comes from having several blade shapes, and since I prefer a spearpoint main over a clippoint main, I'd choose either the GEC 35 cattle knife or the GEC 59 whittler (even though I have almost no experience with GEC knives). The cattle knife reminds me of "an equal-end stockman" and stockman is a pattern that I'm very familiar with and like a lot. So, for the sake of learning what a new-to-me pattern can do, I'd choose the novelty (for me) of the whittler. (And IMHO, stag is never a bad choice.)

I voted for the #59 whittler.

Whatever you choose, I hope you and your knife have a marvelous March!😁:thumbsup:

Remington, but this really all about the one I’d pick for myself. There’s a good chance I don’t put on long pants from April-October, therefore would not carry the larger sized knife most of that time.
