I don't really know what YOUR knife wants, needs, and preferences are, so all I can do is tell you what I would choose if I were going to pick one of those knives as my only carry for the entire month of March. 🤓

If I'll have only one knife for the whole month, I'd want it to have the versatility that comes from having several blade shapes, and since I prefer a spearpoint main over a clippoint main, I'd choose either the GEC 35 cattle knife or the GEC 59 whittler (even though I have almost no experience with GEC knives). The cattle knife reminds me of "an equal-end stockman" and stockman is a pattern that I'm very familiar with and like a lot. So, for the sake of learning what a new-to-me pattern can do, I'd choose the novelty (for me) of the whittler. (And IMHO, stag is never a bad choice.)

I voted for the #59 whittler.

Whatever you choose, I hope you and your knife have a marvelous March!😁:thumbsup:

Thank you for the well thought out response! My personal use changes daily from office, to field, to woods. I typically carry one traditional and one modern folder daily, sometimes with a fixed blade to supplement. This year, I decided to carry 1 traditional each month to get better acquainted with the collection I have. This thread/poll will determine what that knife will be for March, but I will still supplement with a modern or fixed as needed/wanted.

I agree with your opinion that the 35 and 59 are versatile knives, and wouldn't be disappointed with either for a month. And you are also right that Stag is never a bad thing!

Yellow Rose 81
Wanna see how two thin muskrat blades do for everyday tasks, curious to see if you ever miss a smaller, more stout blade.

I voted for the Cattleman - because I couldn’t go more than a day (or two) without a Sheepfoot blade in my knife. OH

I am surprised to see the Remington doing so well in the poll due to its size. Lots of great responses so far. Looking forward to seeing which one of these ends up winning.

Thanks for the additional info on your carry habits.

So far, it looks like "the will of the people" might be that you alternate the big Barlow and the Texas Jack throughout March (or carry one until the ides of March and the other after that). 🤓

You left the SAK Tinker (or any SAK) off the list of choices.:(
No problem. I consider a SAK as a compliment to another traditional, instead of a replacement, and will carry both at one time.

I may have to carry the 2nd place knife for April, or start carrying the Grand Daddy and swap to the Texas Jack once the Barlow wears me out!

If Iam going to carry one knife for a month, i it had better not be too big. So I went straight for the 59. It doesn’t hurt that it is a gorgeous little knife.

I voted for the Remington Barlow because I have large hands. I don't like handles less than 4" long. Larger is better for me personally.

I voted Remington Grand Daddy, here's the rationale:

The first day of Spring is March 20th.

The color which most characterizes Spring is green.

Remington is often referred to as "Big Green."

The Grand Daddy Barlow is a "Big" pattern.

The shield's motif is an abstract representation of an organ responsible for the creation of new life.

Make your own decision, but I think not carrying that Remington would be tempting the fates. The stars are all aligned for this opportunity to usher in an abundant, restorative, and refreshing Spring season.
