Recommendation? Update: S90v Manix 2 action is tight with clicking

my guess is that the lock release is hanging up on this (even though it's blurry, hopefully you can see it, not sure what to call it) protrusion on the ramp on my manix 2 causing my click, pulled it apart this morning

Hmm. I don't know if that was the cause for my issue. I think the spyderco warranty guys would of pointed out if they filed any imperfections off the backspacer/spring guide. I was thinking the spring catching on something was the root of the noise and not really the ball bearing. Rotating the spring may be enough to move the material into a position where it doesn't catch on anything.

Not sure how smooth the ball would be rolling over that hump, I'm sending it in regardless, I've got nine others I can carry. None of them have the action this one does and I do have another manix 2 to compare it to.

Roikyou,
Sounds like we were in the same boat. After being spoiled myself with 3 butter smooth Manix2's I couldn't accept the 4th one being so noisy and sticky so I sent it in per the advice on the forum here. Even though Spyderco warranty said nothing was wrong, they defiantly sent me the knife back better (perfect condition actually).

UPDATE!
Got back from warranty today. They called me to tell me last week they couldn't find anything wrong with it and that everything was in spec. I was a little puzzled so I just told em to send it back.

Well got it today and they definitely fixed something. The out of spec part might of been corrected simply by dissasembly and reassembly. The lock is quiet as a mouse now.

Video days it all. Turn sound up.

Spyderco got it back and disassembled it, not realizing the cage was upside down at the time. They reassembled properly and the click went away. Same thing was happening to mine, which led me to this thread. Turned the cage around and boom drop shut action with zero click. Glad it worked out for you!
