(Update) Umnumzaan problem

My first Zann was pretty hard to open. it never got any better until I bent the pocket clip a little to ease the tension on the clip. After that it was a little better but the Zann never grew on my as much as the Sebenza. I am a Sebenaholic through and through.

I gotta say that the Zaan I had opened a hell of a lot easier then any seb I have owned. And once it was past the ball detent it was like it was gliding on ice.

If you have the tool try to loosen up the pivot screw a little. I found the best way to set mine. Just grip the tool without the allen wrench and screw it in finger tight. It is set with no blade play at all and is very smooth to open. I am actually missing mine a lot now.... :(. I think that is the 1st knife I have sold which I am feeling any regret at all....

Oh, and I never even used the thumbstud. I just pressed the point under the thumbstud and pushed up and out with only a tiny bit of finger touching the stud....it opened much easier that way. This also works on both the small and large sebenzas.

I think it just needs to be broken in a bit. I had one that would do that and after a while it stopped. I didn't worry about it because like was said above I'm not into opening my knife slow.

Just to clarify, the knife opens as smooth as you could ask for in a knife. The issue I'm addressing is disengaging the frame lock when I want to close the knife.

The more I think about it, the more I just love the 21 and will probably end up selling this on the exchange.

So to wrap up the original issue, CRK did a fabulous job working with me as a customer and fixed the problem I sent it in for...what more can you ask? Here's a picture of the new lock position after a fairly slow to normal opening-

Mine was very easy to disengage also. Probably the easiest frame lock I had to disengage. That was also smooth as ice.

well maybe the Zann isn't for you then. All of the Zann's I have had compared to the ease of operation of my Sebenza's.

Maybe that is why I like my Wilson Combat StarTac 'zaan so much... I removed the clip, as I do on all of my so-equipped pocket knives, when I got home with it! It opens smoothly - closes similarly - not easily, but 'assuredly', if that makes sense! I am not hurting the framelock's lockbar leaving the clip off, am I?? It is my first - and, as of today, still my only CRK. The day is young, however...

I've had it for less than a week and it is much much easier to open. I've taken it off the exchange and plan on keeping it in the arsenal!!
I think that is a good choice. Glad it has worked out!!! It's a great looking Zann in my honest opinion.
