I recently had another post saying I had a $ 100 budget. But now my son wants a new knife. His budget is $25. But if its a really nice knife I'll through in $25 dollars. So I would really like a knife under $50 but would rather it be less thanks
He will be using it for edc and just cutting rope boxes stuff like that

Condor bushcrafter. Really good bang for the bucks...
Or one of the smaller Beckers...

What kind of knife is he looking for? Fixed blade, folder, approximate size, etc. Any details will help.

Lets go with $30.

Folder = Without question is the Ontario Rat 1 or 2 (depending on the size.. Rat 1 is kinda large)

Fixed blade = Hmmmm... SOG seal pup (not the elite)

Also one of the coolest/classic budget fixed blades ever.. the Ontario Air Force 499 (6150). Around $40-$45 (seen below)

Another vote for either RAT 1 or 2. The Kabar Dozier folder is another good choice in the $25-30 range. If you like the Spyderco look check out the Byrd line of budget folders as well.

The Kershaw Leek is a phenomenal knife, great steel when elsewhere in that price range ($40-$50) all you find is AUS-8 and 8CR13MOV. It was one of the first knives my dad got me that was really mine. If you look at the framelock all bead blast versions they can be found for $40-$60, BladeHQ has a satin framelock half serrated version for $39.95

Cold Steel Tuff Lite. It's honestly a shockingly practical little EDC and works perfectly for cutting boxes, rope and the like. If he wants something that will flex into an outdoor role, I would look at the Rat or ESEE folders, but for pure EDC cutting tasks I think it's very hard to beat the little wharncliffe.

Can you spell C A T? The Spyderco Cat is about $40 at my favorite online retailer and it is a great knife. Perfect for what your son wants to do.

In this price range, another vote for the ESEE Zancudo folders. Nice knives for around $35!

Be sure to check out the Ontario Utilitac 2 !!! ($24.95)

Check out Sanrenmu. All their knives would fall well within that budget. SRM 7010 or 7063 good but small. Even smaller is the ZB681. For larger knives Sanrenmu has some but Enlan/Bee brand has more variety. Both are quite good quality and use properly heat-treated 8cr13MoV or similar Chinese steels. Avoid Ganzo: Expensive (relatively) copies and not so good heat-treat. Tend to have very long delivery times however.

If you want just one knife though, I'd suggest the ESEE knives over the Ontario Rat models, or just examine all the new models from Kershaw. They all fall under the $50 range and great knives in their own right although the steel (8cr13mov) remains the same. Kershaw Chill, Strobe, Emerson collabs, etc. I like the Kershaw Skyline and it uses a nicer grade of steel but there are equally nice options out there from almost all companies. Spyderco Delica/Endura can be had around $50 secondhand here in the Exchange.

Browse the For Sale or even For Trade section here with your son, you may be pleasantly surprised.
