Quigibo, the 2nd from the bottom, right hand side is made from stabilized Karelian Birch - the stuff that maker of Scandinavian knives like pukkos frequently use (it is native to the northern latitudes).

Shaggy - I guess my favorite among them all is the fourth from the bottom, right hand side. This one is made from a piece of lignum vitae - the heaviest, densest wood known to man. This wood was so beautiful to work - it cut cleanly and predictably, it didn't chip or crack, and it is rock stable. I enjoyed every minute I spent carving it. Because of the high resin content, it is almost impossible to work it with power tools because they burn the wood. So, I ended up taking my time and working it down by hand little-by-little using Japanese carving rasps and Swiss-pattern files.
