These returned from Pennsylvania the other day and I am really happy with the results. Brad at Peter's takes really good care of your blades.

As you can see, it is a mixed bag. CPM 154, M390, AEB-L, and Elmax.

I'm looking forward to dressing these up. More pics to follow.

Back story on these two. My friend knew I was looking for lobster tails for an upcoming party, and offered me 7 for a knife. Good deal all around. I thought he wanted something similar to what I was making at the time. It turns out he wanted to design the knife and build it himself. He just needed me to cut the blank, bevel it and get it heat treated and ready for slabs. Sweet. The bad news is his design included an American style tanto (which I don't do) and the OAL was 5" with a guard (which I don't do).

When I saw the drawing with the dimensions, I expressed some concerns, but it's his knife so here we go...

I made his and another based on his design which he will also get because other than trying to figure out how the hell to do an American tanto, I felt like he gave me too much for what he was asking. I will put on slabs and make a sheath for it. His original design is the one that looks like the drawing.

Of course, in the end, I will probably have spent more time on his tiny little knives than any other in this batch.

I like Peter's HT. I've been using them with some regularity for about a year now with good results. I haven't been keeping track, but certainly several hundred pounds by now, including some blades. Brad puts up with a lot of my crap, I certainly own him a beer if I ever meet him. I wonder if he goes to the Blade show...

I got about 30 back from Brad about a week ago. A bunch of A2. Had to de-smurf all of them, but they're all straight as can be. $75 for 20lbs of knives is a great deal. I ground out all those and only ended up with 8 or 9lbs to send...lol.

I love how he will send you your blades back, and then bill you later.

Agreed, Brad is the man. He loves his work and it shows in his quality. Fun guy to BS with, too. Nathan, last time I talked to him, he did mention going to Blade.

Great stuff, Erik!
I'm looking forward to seeing the blades in this batch completed. Nice work so far. Brad is definitely a great go to guy for heat treat. He gets the job done right and is always there when you need to ask a question or talk.

Let's see that larger chef's knife with some handles!!!

Had to work this weekend, but spent some time on the first chef. This one has a vertically tapered tang that follows the bevel, so both sides are flat throughout.. My buddy, the chef, wanted a Furi style handle and a pinch grip up front.

Take care, all.

My first chef knife is done. First finished one with a stamp as well.

CPM 154. 11.5" OAL. 6.5" cutting edge. .092 at the spine. 2" height. Flat grind, hand rubbed. Black G10, stainless pins.

That knife turned out so nice Erik!! I love the sweeping bevel on the front of the scales. That one turned out so nice..........now get to work on the others:D

Patron Silver tequila is awesome stuff. Tastes like water and looks very good as a knife backdrop.

its all about the reposado... but yeah, patron is a good one!

pretty knives. no distal taper on the chef?? /faint

kidding of course. some day ill be that good!

Thanks for the warm comments. The stuff in the patron bottle is water and flower stems. It's a 1.75L we are using as a vase. I'll have to look at the distal taper Jameson, I thought I had plenty, but it could have more. Thanks again.

Thats a very nice americanized tanto. I do alot of those, and it aint an easy grind to do. Yours looks really clean. Very nice and straight plunge line too. Harder to get the plunges in the chisel grinds clean IMO.

That kitchen knife is probably the most comfortable and attractive design I've seen in awhile. Again, you do really great work.

Thanks for the nice compliments, Psycho. I looked at your knives and I am quite impressed with your work. I think there are a few new makers around here that are really putting their hearts into the craft.

After Blade, I plan on organizing a new maker's event. You may want to be involved.
