Hello All....I hope this update finds you all well and enjoying the holiday season!!! My best wishes to you all for a GREAT year in the world of Nuclear Toughness...
Our forum is one of the most active here on BladeForums, thanks to all of you.
The E models have been a wonderful success the latter part of this year, and your field reports, both here and sent privately are always appreciated. As anticipated, the legends of performance marked by the straight handled series have already begun to be eclipsed by the even higher performance E model.
In addition, what we have watched grow more than ever this past year is the market for the collectible Busse Combat Knife...mint condition straight handed models are being sold at premiums above original retail at local gun/knife shows, and if you can find a knife from the 80's or early 90's, hesitation means loss...old Battle Mistresses, Steel Heart II's, Badgers, and Desert Storm Fighters are flying off tables, in ANY condition.
A personal treat I have experienced this year is a growing collection of coffee mugs from many of the three letter gov. agencies thanks to the loaner-knife program, which has saved many an order (earlier this year) and sometimes, a life (like James Healy's bud down under in Austrailia!!)....it makes people happy!!! Cigars are also always welcome
The most FUN however, in the Busse Combat line for me, is the Custom Variant!!! This idea has rocked the custom knife arena, as the Variant provides three key values to the customer,
1) The highest performance available a'la Busse
2) Custom features which have been altogether unavailable on a Busse Combat Knife...some of them are one or two of a kind only. Jerry creates them as he feels moved to apply features right at the grinding wheel.
and
3) Fearlessness in using a more expensive knife, as it is STILL covered by the BEST warranty in the business...which gives rise to their collectible values growing the day of ownership...
As a good friend and customer of mine likes to point out when other customers grill me to get his finger-grooved Battle Mistress Variant "...from my cold dead hands". AND, I have offered him WAY more than what he paid!!! Our customers just LOVE their Variants.
As for updates as the year closes, here is where we are as I review the data...
I am, with certainty, leaving for Ohio next weekend. Items on my agenda for when I get out there include:
1) Plans for first quarter of 2001
2) Bolo Production Status
3) Pick up as many knives as the shop can provide...what I know pretty well now is that I will have Lean Mean Streets before Badgers...but BOTH models are targeted for completion within this month.
4) Folder Status....in other words, whatever info I can hijack, I will
5) Deliver Carling Black Label for Jerry and the Team!!!
If you want a Busse Combat Knife for Christmas, get your orders in now and we will see what we can do.
For those of you who are patiently waiting on your custom ordered Busse Combat Variant, the years end is the target....I am on it, as is the rest of the team and NO ONE will be forgotton.
My BEST wishes and prayers go out to all of you who have allowed me to live a dream, have a cigar or two, and get to work with the BEST customers and craftsman on the planet.
Stay tuned to the forums for details on what's happening as the year closes.
