upgraded my computer's...

wont happen slade :D

update: i have cut various things today with the RAM (other than me). it just destroys cardboard and paper. should proove to be a good slicer.

oh btw guys, this knife has what appears to be a nice hollow grind :D :D :D

GOOD GRIEF! Those mitts look like they belong on Andre the Giant.

:D:D

Thanks for the pics though. Currently waiting on the ones I ordered.

I nicked my ring finger playing left-handed.

yes, it is a very thin hollow grind. and it will shave beautifully. I'll definitely pick up a RAM ST to tide me over while my baby is away on the passaround.

OL, is your clip ridiculously stiff? I can barely bend it by hand. Right now I've got my prySTR stuck under the clip to bend it out enough to get over the edge of my dickies.

edi: crap, double post

yeah she's stiff. same way as with the groove. same clip actually. im gonna play with it without that scale. then i will play with the clip itself.

Glad you have a shot with the Ti Cyclone, to show the choil on the RAM.
I find the Cyclone handle a little "short" without a choil. The RAM looks to be a good fit for me.
Waiting! Waiting!:D

Hmm.. That does look like a nice piece. I do love my Lahar though.

What are your thoughts on the RAM versus the Lahar?

my thoughts?

well, the Lahar definatly has the better materials, and is built like a tank (the RAM is like a tank too, dont get me wrong. heck, most Kershaws are tanks :D). the RAM doesnt quite have the materials, but has a VERY promissing future as an EDC.

as you saw in my pics, the RAM is SMALL in my hand. The only things that the Lahar has over the RAM really is that the blade steel is better, and is larger and fills my big hands better. but thats just me. both are excellent.

i will post some pics of it with my lahar when it comes back from Mr. Krein.

R.A.M.!

first impression: "wow, this is a bit smaller and ALOT lighter than the groove i just used to open the box with." bit small, but not un-usable small.

fit and finish: typical Kershaw, as in, EXCELLENT. as OE said, the pivot is SUPER smooth. smoothest i have seen out of any knife to ever be in my hands. the g-10 is nice and grippy. no play in the blade.

lock-up: the closest thing i can compare the lock to is BM Axis. the hawk lock (if i got the name right) is just as good, if not better. the grip on the lock is great, and is easy to ingage or disingage. my only problem? i wish it was positioned closer to the pivot. why? well my over sized mitts. i will prolly have this mastered by the end of the night anyway, but just a warning to you guys with big mits (you wonder what i mean, i have a pic on this forum of my hand dwarfing the Offset. the offset makes the RAM look like a mini mojito in terms of size).

blade: really like the looks of this blade. wasnt sure by the pics i had seen, but now i cant see what i dont like. VERY thin edge (shaved a patch of my arm bald with ease :D ). great at cutting cardboard. i am sure that this knife can take some abuse, but its like the needs work in terms of edge, very easy looking to break if used improperly. nice even, beautiful grinds :D

overall, i think Kershaw has another winner on their hands. i will post pics later tonight (have to take some first ;) ). did this knife live up to its hype? i would say yes.

my parting thought: GET IT
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

JUST GOT MY RAM!

I also love it!

I'm quoting offsetlover because that is exactly the way I feel about the RAM to a tee.
If it had a 3.5" blade the handle would be a little longer and a slightly better fit for my hand. Or if the lock button was a little more forward on the handle I would not have to reposition my hand to close the blade.

That said I'll get used to it. I still really like this knife. It's flipper is very smooth. I love the shape of the blade, very sharp, and fit and finish is, as usual for Kershaw, excelent!

OL,
Thanks for the review and pics! Looks like I'm gonna like this one a lot!!

Cheers,
Jon
