Not all hunting knives need to be bold (although I do make some husky ones too). Proper heat treating, creating a fine grain pattern throughout the entire blade, is very important on a knife this thin (about 1/16 inch at the choil with a distal taper to the tip and edge) I heat treat in a digitally controlled furnace with three normalizing and two tempering cycles to achieve this and a hardness of 58-60 Rc. The steel is 52100 which has a reputation for excellent edge holding and toughness.
The wood handle is maple from my firewood pile with spalting and curl which I sent to K and G services for stabilizing. The blocks came back very hard with the resin treatment well into the core.
Overall length of this knife is 9 1/2 inches with a 5 inch blade.
The scabbard is from 6-7 ounce vegetable tanned leather and heavily oiled. The belt loop is for a right hand carry
