UPS does it again

i ordered some m16 bayonets once and they required an adult sig, and yes they left mine on my porch and there are lots of children always straying around!...i think my fondest memory would be how they broke two different knife cases i had ordered from smoky mtn, the first they destroyed, and then the one that replaced it showed up with the same damage!!!!!...hmmmmmm..they dont like their jobs do they????...and to think they were both labled fragile!!!!!

UPS has a policy that states they will not ship alcoholic beverages, and will in fact destroy any unauthorized merchandise. At a UPS facility in NH not too long ago an acquaintance of mine was forced to destroy 2 cases of Dom Perignon. He vowed he would never do anything like that again.

Maybe nowadays he just drinks any alcohol he finds, and, while stumbling about the warehouse, he may drop a box or two...

I didn't read the whole thread, so if someone 's already posted this story, sorry for the duplicate.

I read about a blacksmith who had $2000 dollars in precious metal castings shipped via UPS. He mananged to get them to find them, they'd delivered them to the wrong STREET, quater-horse instead of appalossa(sp?) or vice-versa.
If he wouldn't have gotten them back, he would have lost a $15,000 on the project he was working on.

I have heard of the US Postal service breaking a bowling ball, not sure how they did that.

max- that machine looks pretty heavy,my guess is that it was dropped on the side with the little handle-thingy-ma-bob.thats what it looks like to me.

my brother was just buying some computer parts and ups sent it to the wrong zip code.i dont know ho they did that.took them 2 weeks to deliver something that should have arrived in three or four days.

I am in total agreement with Mike Payne and the others standing up for UPS. No one wins when merchandise is lost, misdelivered, etc., but the success rate is remarkable considering the volume of packages handled daily. I actually like these guys.

For starters, my UPS driver ranks a 10 out of 10. Neal always has a smile and warm greeting and I look forward to his visits. We talk about our kids, hunting dogs, guns, whatever. Neal watches out for my stuff like it was his own, for example he kept a guitar on his truck one Friday evening rather than leave it on my doorstep becuase it was 40 degrees outside. I raced home late from work and saw a note on my door explaining that Neal would deliver it on Monday. I wouldn't trade Neal's professionalism for nude UPS deliveries from Miss America.

We have two UPS centers locally. The one 5 minutes from my house I avoid like the door handles are coated with meningitis bacteria. They want to open everything to make sure I'm not an idiot, and they eat mean pills that last all shift long (probably 24hr pills). The UPS center 20m from my house is the polar oposite. I've been driving the extra distance for 4 years and I've never had a bad experience at that UPS office. It's interesting that Neal also works out of the same UPS center 20m from my house with the other friendly UPS folks.

My $0.02.

UPS has serious management problems and customer care is not in their vocabulary.

They put so much pressure on everybody to move more faster that I think some packages are deliberately broken so that frustarted employees can get back at management for unrealistic production expectations.

I'm still waiting for my claim check (approx $100.00) for a water damaged package two years ago!

One day I went to my not-so-friendly UPS depot to ship a package and tried to take with me 5 or 6 of the shipping forms to have back at the office. The supervisor, who happened to be out at the public area (believe it or not) told me I could only use one for what I was shipping and couldn't take ANY with me as their supply was low and they were expecting a shipment. No big deal; I didn't really need them right away. I did, however, ask that a small supply be dropped at my offcie the next time a truck was in the area or the next time I got a delivery. He said that could not be done. It's the last time I shipped UPS and I changed my overnight letter carrier the next day at the office.

For whatever it's worth, the route drivers at both my office and home are real decent guys. It's the company that has the problem!

Max the Knife...please do not mis-understand me.I was not tryinig to pose an element of doubt towards and I hope it was not perceived that way

Your circumstance and yur damage is very unfortunate and worse thing is, it is probably not replacable I would imagine. Some of yu guys had some great comments about the drivers......From what I have been told by many people is, "They love the UPS driver, but hate UPS "! And that dog-gone 800 number is very frustrating

Forgot to mention. The restriction to send firearms via overnight applies only to handguns, not to long guns. I shipped a rifle to the manufacture for repairs and had to argue until I was blue in the face with the clerk that long guns could be sent regular-ground. After I insisted, more than once, that he call somebody he went into another room, I saw a line light up on the phone that was right at the counter and when he returned he said that he would "make an exception - this time." Yeah, right.

I have had occasional trouble with UPS. On several occasions I have had overnight stuff take over a week and never was able to get my money refunded on the shipping. Our regular driver is really a great guy. Ive known him over 20 years and hes very responsible. The most problems Ive had have been with the idiot substitute drivers we get. They dont give a **** about anything and regulary leave stuff in the rain, in the open and one time left some underclothing my wife ordered where my dogs could get to it. Sexy underwear all over the yard was interesting suprise to come home to but it was all unsuable since the dogs chewed it all up really well. I never ship anything with them but dont have a choice but to receive things from them since they are the only ones that deliver here everyday. (except for the USPO and dont get me started on those morons)

We had a side band radio shipped to a person one time and when it arrived, the microphone was smashed down into the case of the unit. Literally inside. Now what kind of force does it take to do that? The back wheel of the BIG BROWN TRUCK? Never again on UPS..

Xrayed.it takes a $8/hr part-timer who is pissed off and decides to throw the box out of the truck while unloading or putting a

Remember this once you sign for a package it is yours
biggrin.gif

After that you are responsible for filing a claim with UPS. You have 30 days to do so.
If you ever get a package like that refuse it, PERIOD. Tell your mailbox place the same thing. No matter what the driver says that is your right under DOT rules.
If you refuse it the dispute is between the sender and UPS. You then have the right to go after the sender for a replacement. How do I know this, I used to work in their claims Dept. They will jerk you around until you threaten to sue or contact the Attorney generals office in your state. If you are left a damaged package be sure to take plenty of dated pictures before and during your inspection of the contents. OR you can call UPS BEFORE you open the package and make them come back and pick it up as refused (Still take some pics)Then contact the shipper. They have 30days to file claim.
