Maybe it's just my naivete, but my attempt to employ UPS' services for a delivery to UK has been a thoroughly unpleasant experience. I sent a package thru the local Staples store containing a JWSmith small recurve folder equipped with a disc opener. The package along with the appropriate customs docs. describing the contents as a "tool" was dropped off at Staples on the 31st (Memorial Day) and was picked up early afternoon by UPS on the 1st. Mid-morning on the 2nd, the Brown truck was at my door , returning the now opened package with a "Return To Shipper" notice. The notice indicted the reason for return was that the package contained a "flipper knife". Apparently UPS has their own internal definition of "illegal" knives. I'm informed that the refund of my shipping fees will take four to six weeks due to the Staples/UPS contract and subsequent policy regarding returns. To add insult to injury, I took the now repackaged knife to the PO and asked them directly re: their policy for over-seas mailing of said knife. They had me open the package, and examined the knife, pronounced it "no problem" and promptly shipped it...at a substantially reduced cost I might add! Moral....you might want to re-think your decisions to use UPS in future...I know I will.
