I looked all over and this is the closes to the topic. I just came from a UPS shipping center and they informed me they had a meeting with the employees on Monday and they were told from now on they will not ship anything that is sharp out of the country and that included knifes but what set it off was a toy that had a point. I have shipped knifes to Canada before but they said not any more from them. They will open the package and if they determined it is sharp they will hand it back to you. Now what are the dealers and people that ship outside of the USA going to do?? I thought I would give you knife loves a heads up. Mods if this needs to be move then can you please do it for me?? Thank you.

they said they would look at what you put down in the area that you write what you are shipping. then they will decide to open it or not. they notice I am shipping a heck of a lot of knifes so the lady told me about the new rule. all I wanted to do is pass the info on here so that the people that are shipping out side of the USA can find some way to ship there knifes.

...their knives...

Just kidding! Hey, I appreciate the heads up. I don't ship with them, but that's only because I'm unfamiliar with their services. Guess I'll be sticking with USPS.

Shipping anything international with UPS was a mistake beforehand anyway ;) USPS ftw!

+1. They seem to constantly screw up my packages and they can't match the speed of USPS. And FedEx is just a joke.

USPS offers international shipping, there's no reason to go to other postal services. They're simply the best in the business.

they're knives

They're all laughing at you over there and rolling their eyes. You're going to roll your eyes too.

uggg

yes but i am shipping switchblades. unless the person is in florida i have to use them or fedex. fedex is way over price for shipping rates.

Thats about how I feel. I'll never use anyone other than USPS again.

I don't think many here sell switchblades, so I don't think this will affect anyone here.

Plenty. USPS is much better, and I'm pretty sure thats how most all ship here.
Even if they did use UPS they can use USPS now.
I don't think many here(if any) are selling switchblades out of country, so it shouldn't affect members here.

Sorry to hear you have no way of shipping your switchblades out of the country.

Are these still the "couple of switchblades" that you just had left over and when they are gone you're done selling them ? You first said that a long time ago now and many times since but you still seem to have them and "a heck of a lot" of them, too......so you're still not a dealer then ? These very regular posts of yours telling the forum that you sell switchblade KNIVES are just a poor attempt at vailed spam.:thumbdn:

My post office delivered to the American Museum of Natural History. We got materials from explorers around the world. The smell of some of these packages was ... interesting. (Deliver it fast!)

and I am almost out. I have never tried to sell on these board and I wont. I have never tried to ship out of the usa. when I was a dealer I bought in very large bulk and that is how I keep the price down and that is about 15 years ago. I am very sorry that I tried to pass this info to you.

...and we're done. If UPS is threatening to open packages before shipping to verify their contents, that might be against the law I'd imagine. Might be a good idea to check with a RL lawyer, face to face or by telephone.
