UPS TRAIN WRECK! - Will there be proof of INFI superiority? - or horror?

As many here have to know, it is hard to wait for one's first Busse to arrive - after toying with the idea for years and then finally giving in and committing, and it gets especially hard after one receives the awaited email trumpeting "An order you recently placed on our website has had its status changed."

UPS says delivery will be in 7 days - Thursday (today!). Signature required, ok, I will work from home! (I am fortunate to be able to do that some days.) UPS tracking shows no delay . . . . The UPS man finally arrives after a long day of anticipation - at 7pm - but NO, there is no package from Busse Combat! He explains that there was a "derailment" and many packages may be destroyed. Seriously, a Flippin' TRAINWRECK?!?! A real and true ACT OF GOD?!

In an offhand manner, the man in brown shirt and shorts casually suggests that i take another day - "or two" - off of work in order "to see if I am lucky and my package will arrive at all." Seriously. How does one respond to something like that which is Soooo wrong on so many levels?

But I have decided that this is an opportunity in disguise! WILL THE ASHBM CG SURVIVE A TRAINWRECK? That's gotta be worth taking more time away from the office to find out! (I heard the man mutter on his way back to his brown truck that an entire lot of 440c and SV30 knives from a major manufacturer were simply returned to the factory in full confidence that they were shattered beyond recognition inside their boxes . . .)

Mine wrecked in a train in AZ on Wed.!!
It must be with yours.
UPS is taking some hits... Lol
Someone else's wrecked one too.

Or UPS is messing with customers. ETA to "package delayed - zombies in distribution building" shows up... :D

I googled ups train derailment and it looks like this is not an uncommon occurrence? that alone makes no sense.

And yes, I do hope everyone is ok as well.

Man, Amflud, had to go and make me feel pretty selfish, didn't ya'? Thank you. Seriously. Good call.

Someone else had an ASHBM a few weeks ago that was delayed in a train derailment around Death Valley. Hope all those affected have their packages arrive safely and quick. Having your INFI delayed is PURE HELL....

It does seem to happen a lot.
I shipped out a [very expensive] CD player, and checked the tracking to find a delay for a train derailment. Took a while, but it eventually got there, just fine.

It's quite obvious what's happening here. These train derailments are not random; no, there's a pattern. Why is it that only trains shipping busse blades derail. The answer: train wheels cannot take the shame of being so inferior to infi whilst carrying infi. So their shame and dishonor forces them to dive blindly off the tracks, and with their last act regain some measure of honor in the only way that trains can... a noble death.... such dignity... so please. don't let these trains die in vain. ship busse knives in rockets.

But INFI is the most heat resistant knife steel known... It would surely make the heat shielding on a rocket feel inferior too!

yeah it looks like UPS needs to start using INFI in the construction of their wheels or something. Or possibly just pet the train and tell it not to worry, yes, it IS carrying superior metal, but the train is still loved too. Hehe, I slay me.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to make anyone feel guilty. I was once a through freight conductor on the largest railroad in the country and I have moved UPS trains. I've been involved in some derailments. Some minor, and a catastrophic one that killed a friend of mine. The word "derailment" is very vague. A minor derailment can affect train movement for hundreds of miles in all directions.

If the INFI isn't safe to deliver it will probably make its way to the GOV auction site.

Spider-Pig,
It seemed clear that you were not trying to make anyone feel guilty/bad. Your reminder was well-taken and gentlemanly. The safety of anyone involved in any accident, big or small should be the first (and perhaps only) concern. I hope my sophomoric post, which was intended to be humorous in an attempt to vent my mild frustration, did not offend you in any way. I am glad that you were not injured (or apparently not seriously) in any of the RR accidents in which you were involved, and my condolences to you with regard to the tragic loss of your friend. I know how that feels.
Kind rgds,
Ken
