It's actually quite soft after tanning but the exterior is tough. I epoxy the stingray onto a fiberboard (quite rigid assembly) then bolt it onto the frame.
I might add that the crown is pure white even though it shows a blue tint.

That's a beautiful package. The bright colors and patterns really compliment each other. I like it! :D
 
So cool. Modern and high-tech, but the stingray hide and filework give it a very classic look of antiquity as well.
 
This species of stingray has a continuous row of "barbs, studs or stars" depending on the terminology the entire length of the spine as opposed to others that only have one.
These show larger in the center of the handle and as you go away from center they become smaller and more uniform.
 
I recently purchased one of Gene's knives and the detail and finish is just incredible. This new knife is really nice and of course I'm broke at the moment ...
