Well, I guess I don't see the blade you gleefully suggested, as in any way like the BK5. Oh well, I'm glad the OP is getting what he wanted. The BK5 is an awesome knife from a great company, and there is no other production knife quite like it. But maybe someone else will see your suggestion and pick it op. It looks like a nice knife.craytab being a bit pedantic since the OP also said "I really like the simple shape of the BK5, that's the style I'm trying to find."
so - ignore the OP's actual text and just use the title? - got it /s
I have got to say, I bought one of the 7" versions of these and found it not worth the $11. The handle was loose, that could have just been a lemon I guess. What was unacceptable was the full thickness of the blade going all the way to the tip. This made the knife difficult to use in the kitchen or as a utility knife for me. The grind was also super sloppy and completely different on each side. I get that people buy these to mod but what I got would have taken far more work than it was worth. Too bad because the steel actually performed great.
I'm a big fan of Victorinox Fibrox knives for use in food prep. They are reasonably priced, commercial grade, and have a great feel in the hand. For chopping wood around the camp I would suggest a hatchet, axe, or chain saw, maybe of machete for clearing the tall grass, etc. before setting up the tent.
Persian? Saw this today and I thought it might interest you:

you're in luck - condor just put out this 7" knife - made with super tough 1075 & walnut handles
it's also only about $30, so don't expect high levels of finish but I think the quality is there

That one is a gorgeous.
The reasonable price will be the tough part here. BK5s come up every so often on the exchange. I Just sold one for what I consider a reasonable price, I also bought it on the exchange for about the same reasonable price. It was my 2nd BK5. I just felt like it is too big for it's lack of thickness. I'm sure it works for other people but it just never fit my needs. The BK15 is about perfect IMO. I'm on my second one. Stupidly sold the first and had to pay much more to get the second one, which I won't be letting go of. Spyderco Phil Wilson Southfork is awesome as well. You won't find these for a reasonable price but why not tease!

I've been wanting a Kabar Becker Magnum Camp knife (BK5), but they're tough to find for a reasonable price.
MMHW makes a Persian style knife, but they're impossible to find as well.
Tops makes a couple interesting models, the Prather Bowie and the Frog XL, but neither are exactly what I'd like, but may end up with one of them if I can't find anything else.
Can anyone suggest any others? I really like the simple shape of the BK5, that's the style I'm trying to find.

That's bigger than I expected. Looks really well done.Couple of comparison shots between the BK-5 and Siegle's Persian. OP should really be happy with the BK-5, it's a great knife and a shame that Ka-Bar discontinued it - but I would agree with some of the sentiments shared, it is of a design that appealed to the masses too little/too late in a sense.
