Just wanted to find out how useful and upswept point could be for utility and EDC. I am not skinning game with this knife. I am thinking along the lines of the upswept on the Rekat Pioneer II.
Thanks.

For some reason I don't seem to get along with upswept points. I've had several and always ended up trading them. My main gripe is that they seem awkward for fine utility work with the point. In general I like a more centered point, both for utility and for self-defense.

This is not an objective opinion, just my personal preferences. Your mileage may vary. :)

bigbass,

Yah, I think you might be happier with either the drop-point or clip-point Pioneer II. They seem to be more useful...At least to me, they are.:).

If you are not using it to process game, the drop or clip point would be a better choice for EDC.

CUTIGER 3 If you "are" using it for game, the drop point or "semi-skinner is a much better shape! There are no upswept points used in a meat packing house. The upswept point gives a blade a lot of "belly" which is seemingly good for skinning but in real life, other designs also have plenty of belly. ...and the upswept point is a terrible design to do any close up work like caping.
