You might want to check this BRX Excursion backpack (http://www.briggs-riley.com/category/productDetail.aspx?id=Excursion-Backpack_BP118). It is pretty similar to the Urban Operator and it also has space to hold a laptop. It’s available in slate color that’s pretty close to black.

I kinda liked the messenger bag Jack Bauer used in the last season of 24. In doing a quick search, they don't appear to be to expensive.
