urban EDC Spyderco

I vote for the Spyderco R2, it is real light, good looking, and with a full flat ground blade it really cuts like a mother. The Native is also good, and if you are on a budget the G10 Cara Cara is by far my favorite "cheap" knife.

Delica 4 Wave!! Picked one up at Spyderco SFO yesterday. Took an hour or so to figure out the wave function but it's easy and reliable now. Wowie sharp and innocent looking with its blue handle and "eyebrow". Blade length is legal most places and it deploys faster than anything short of a fixed blade.

For an "urban EDC" I recommend the Spyderco Military.

Yes, I'm serious.
It will cut about anything you need to cut (string, plastic, boxes, papers, etc.), but it can also be used for self-defense.

Good luck,
Allen.
I will second that, but more likely Carbon fiber Military.

Smaller stuff:

I often EDC a Dragonfly, especially in places with a length restriction. Good ergonomics and edge geometry. I prefer the stainless version, but FRN version is inexpensive and light. Dragonfly also often goes in my carryon when flying - not a disaster if some baggage handler tries to pilfer it, and legal just about everywhere in the continental US.

My other short-blade EDC is a Dodo, but since it's been discontinued I can't really recomend it. Great knife, if you can find one hiding out somewhere.

Others to consider:
Spin, Lava, Navigator, Copilot, Kiwi

Kiwi is super slim compared to most things in the spyderco line. Cutting edge is pretty short, but more than adequate for office tasks.

Bigger stuff:

I like the ocelot. The handle is much bigger than the above knifes. Ergonomics are very good. Lots of crevices to collect gunk, though. Not a good blade for peanut butter.

You can't go wrong with a Delica. It's been going strong in the Spyderco line for a long, long time. FRN version is nice, stainless steel version is a bit heftier and feels super-solid.

People here aren't afaird, they only ask me "why do you carry a weapon?" To which I reply, I run as a delivery boy for friends and family, I need to open boxes
