First of all, I think this is an incredibly beautiful blade. Thanks for a sweet first Busse, Jerry!!
As a newbie to Bussekin, I don't have a lot to compare the UG with but thankfully the mailman came through with some Rats this weekend. BOOYA, sweet knife week!
To me, the swedge on the UG does not seem overly large at all, the handle width is incredibly comfortable relative to its height and I find the overall look of the blade in hand to be :D:eek: sooweeeeeet!
here are some pics:

and, for final size comparison, with our friend Alexander Hamilton. I would have liked to use a Benjamin but I spent all mine on the URBAN GRUDGE!!!!

thanks again, Jerry! Urban Grudge rules!!
URRBAANNNN GRUUUDDDGE!!!

Thanks for the comparison pics, I was beginning to wonder about the size of the UG.

The pic of it next to the RMD makes me wonder if anyone is going to flatten out the spine of the RMD to make it match the UG?

Also would an UG LE be called and ugly?

The UG next to the RMD has me sorely regretting being away for the last Ganza .... my only "worry" is whether choking up on the blade it could have done with the swedge just finishing a little further down the blade for more "thumb" room.

Certainly If I got one I would be sharpening the swedge for use with a fire steel .... it really looks a cracking knife

choked up, the swedge rides about the middle of my thumb and acts as a gymping of sorts. feels quite functional, if you find you want to choke up on this knife. -just a first impression; i've only had this Grudge for an hour or so :D:D

I scored an UG as well. I think I ordered the same color combo from SRKW as well. Is that RMD Black Paper/Sage? Nice combo.

Congrats that a great first Busse to score. Good looking design thats for sure.

wow the urban grudge really is a cool looking blade. wish i had the cash to get one at the time.

Got mine today as well......Killer cool blade, the scales are amazing, choking up with the choil feels natural, overall A+

That was my concern as well. But, I also received mine today and confirm the same as the others have stated. In the choked up position, my long thumbs hang over the swedge area just a bit. But, the pressure point of my thumb is fully on the flat area - which is just fine. I don't "FEEL" swedge into my thumb at all.

IMO, this is one of the BEST sub-6" knives I have seen come from Busse so far.

- The blade shape is VERY versatile - for my uses - *
- The handle fits my reasonably large hands very well and very comfortably.
- *** The choil/guard gap-distance and function is VERY good.
- Weight, balance and over-all feel in the hand is excellent.

I didn't get the SAR4, SAR8 or HG55, so this is my first time to handle the thumb/spine serrations. I had been concerned, but they feel fine.

Ultimately, I can't really point out much of ANYTHING to call a fault on this knife. It is GOOD!

* As is, the blade shape with the swedge is a bit more "Urban". But, still a great all-around user shape that is good for MANY tasks and chores whether urban or camp/woods/trail/hiking, etc.

The swedge thins the blade making piercing and through-cutting a bit better.

However, my preference would be for this same blade shape without the swedge - which I think offers a bit more utility for woodsbumming when the spine can be batoned on. Then, it would be a notch better belt/carry go-anywhere do-it-all knife!
Personally, I would tend to carry such a knife as this in the woods and never really "Urban". But, for those who feel they can EDC such a blade, it is very good as is.

In any event, the Urban Grudge is VERY nice looking and VERY nice in the hand. The functionality should be SUPERB - short of needing to baton the spine - which is often a niche not needed for this size knife anyway. So, VERY nice IMO.

For those curious, I weighed mine at:

9.35 ounces.

265 grams

.

It looks to be very close in size to the Boss Street, anyone that can do a comparrison with those two ?

Side note: My PO delivery guy tried to sneak a pretty beat up USPS Priority box to me.

Luckily, I was home to sign for it. I noticed one end of the box pretty crushed and quickly looked it over before signing. On the back of one side (that the mailman had hidden facing down) was a big hole in the box about 6" or so like a pole had crushed through it. So, I ripped the box open to inspect contents before signing.

The mail-guy was saying I "HAD to sign for it since I had now opened it - prior to me actually digging the knife out of the paper. I would have had more words with him had I found my knife damaged inside..... In my mind, the box was "opened" prior to him handing it to me. Not to mention crushed and with a huge hole in the box.
But, I had the internally wrapped knife dug out of the packaging paper within a couple of seconds of his comment and luckily the internal wrapped packaging of the knife was in fine and good condition with it's plastic wrap over paper within the packaging. It was obvious the knife was fine beyond this.

I usually receive packages via USPS Priority in MUCH better condition. This was rare..... Beat up and abused packages from UPS or FedEx are pretty common from my experiences.

should have got mine today, but the tracking number says it was misrouted this morning, and hasn't come. so sad..=( but, hopefully, should be here tomorrow. I hate the PO.
great pics, that looks to be a great little blade!

So, does this Urban Grudge fall into "Non-Series" catagory?

Or are the HG55, Urban Grudge starting some new series/catagory?
