Here's the second part from my original BOB, this is the one I'd take if I were going to stay or try to survival in and urban environment as opposed to woods survival. Not pictured is all the basics, fire starting, water purification, extra clothes, hygiene kit, etc, mostly just pics of things in my urban kit that differed from my woods kit (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=744244).

Leather Gloves, extra food bars, gallon freezer bags, Binoculars.

First Aid Kit, 150ft Paracord, Hack saw with extra blades, 100lb and 15lb steel wire, electrical tape, brass wire.

Scrapyard Scrapper 5, Leatherman Supertool, 18" prybar, croc stick sharpener, wire cutter, suunto compass, water bottle

Solar/battery/dynamo powered radio/flashlight, 6 N95 filter masks, Springfield XD45 Tactical, Box of 18 extra rounds.

As in the previous kit post any ideas about things I should add or change are invited and would be very helpful, thank you.

The dusk and smoke masks are a great addition and often overlooked. I would strongly consider getting a good activated charcoal water filter; if there is any disruption of services in an urban area, water will be a premium and your choices may be limited to standing water or rain water. Chemicals in the water will be a major concern.

Add a good pair of safety glasses. In an environment with a lot of dust and debris, it's good to keep the eyes safe. If you have the ability, throwing a bicycle helmet onto the bag would go a long way to protect your head from falling debris in a vertical urban jungle.

The crowbar is heavy, but a very effective breaching tool; yours looks like a very manageable size.

Possibly consider adding 30-40 feet of 1" tubular webbing or some of the emergency rappel lines (5-6mm). A rigger's belt or section of rope to construct a Swiss seat and a carabineer would help to evacuate from higher locations if trapped.

Looks pretty good...

Can you spring for some brass cased full power ammo, or are you going to stick with the blazer. I have some blazer hp's as backup rounds, but I prefer premium for SD. Just an observation.

crapping in an urban environment... good luck trying to find a public bathroom these days, you have to buy something at a gas station before they'll give you the keys. If you're stuck in the city for 2-3 days on the move you're going to have to find a spot to take a crap, or peeing, for that matter, without getting negative attention. I don't know what the answer is but I think you should consider it. I'd probably add TP if it's not in there already. The homeless guys around here ride mountain bikes with buggies on the back stuffed with tarps, sleeping bags, surplus blankets and the rest of their belongings. For them urban survival is a daily battle, so they must know what they are doing. Blaser target ammo may not be ideal but it is certainly lethal, with ammo costs nowadays a box of 50 .45 hollow points is rediculous. Other than that it looks like a pretty solid kit. Woooops, I spoke too soon. If I were you I'd carry a .45 boresnake and a silicone rag for maintaining the gun (knives as well), just something to consider.

Most everything looks pretty good. A little lite on the food and water side though. I'd add a head lamp, even if one of the Petzel "e-lights". I got my wife one, nice light in a small package

From the look of it, you look like you have some nice goods. If I was scum, i would shoot you and take that kit. Looks like there's a great machete handle sticking out and a nice fixed blade danging. Obviously a prepared individual. Now you're my prey.

As long as his .45 talks true before yours does...

A lot of fights are predicated on ambushes. Appear where he does not expect you, attack when he does not expect it. If he appears to be strong in one area, attack him where he is not strong.

A 22 mag cricket in a folding chair bag, and I just shot him in the head. He appeared strong close up, I attacked him from far. His weakness.

Man, if you set up an ambush during extreme civil unrest for a couple of knives, a bag and a cheap machete, and proceed to pull it off, and recover his crap all without someone intervening, you deserve his urban survival kit. I personally won't be picking people off for their gear, but since there are obviously people out there with a similar mindset to you I'll be sure to keep the FAL close.

no brother. I'm trying to GIVE that mindset. And it won't just be one character I'm playing, they tend to form in packs... riots... They form to over power the "weak" or outnumbered.

And I'm glad you're keeping a "bigger" stick nearby. That's what I'm trying to get across. That's what I hope people will realize. I don't like playing the sick **** character that I am trying to get across, but someone has to do it to hopefully increase the survival rate for Good people by making them think. THEY HAVE NO MORALS. THinking before something goes down is the EXERCISE. it will give you an edge, a greater prepared state than since your last respiratory cycle.

Civil unrest like any disaster has different threat levels. From very localized get out to a more regional or even national level. The road? If you prepare for the worst, your chances of surviving something less worse just went up.

Would you rather look all tactical cool with knives clearly visible from a bag for everyone to see?

Or would you rather look like a bum with an old pack worn pack, bum clothes, nothing that looks great, maybe some dirty clothing hanging from your pack. However, with everything very well concealed. You even mumble to yourself to look crazy. Almost think book of Eli. Again, he was packing, and except for the ridiculous shotgun that he didn't conceal he was packing pretty well, system all thought out, except ya didn't see the goods till he wanted you to see the goods.

If you were scum which one would you rather go after? The guy who looks like he's been living on the streets for years, or the guy with nice toys and a good looking backpack? You decide.

It's like a hummer driving down the road, and an old chevy citation. Which one do you think scum would like to get?

Look normal. Look bum. Look uninviting. Don't show your goods. Make surprise on your side. Never give away the show unless ya have to. Make your bag and your wardrobe look uninviting. Use your head. Stay alive.

Scottman sounds like an ass but has a good point:D I would add that you want to avoid being targeted by law enforcement as well. That knife handle would be better off covered up or inside the pack.

It's a hard balance to look uninteresting and too much trouble to attack. Most perps will pick on week targets, especially those that look like they have something of worth. Keeping aware of your surroundings and observant to predators is a non-stop duty and one you don't take lightly. You want to be ready to strike first, but not look like an easy or high-value target, yet still look like you're more of a risk than other sheeple.

i didn't see it mentioned, but a small wire-type folding cart is nice to have to carry all your stuff and keep it off the ground, but light enough to manage as an improvised packfrmae, in the event you have to travel off pavement or path.

i like the heavier-duty 100+pound rated ones - they usually cost about 25 bucks, and have bigger wheels than the 70+ pound rated carts.

you carry crow bars and such long term (unnecessarily perhaps), and all that food is going to have to replace calories lost that could've been saved with a small space-efficient cart IMHO.

I'm really going to try and hold my tongue, I don't want to draw attention from the uber 1334 mall ninjas... I might get snipzored by an air rifle or, or, or a blow gunz!1 :foot:

Iv'e heard look like a hard target, i've heard look like a bum. Personally, I don't want to spend much time looking like anything and get the F outta town and get home. I live up in the mts behind Honolulu. Tsunami, earthquake, anything else goes down, I'm hoofing it home. My EDC bag is to get home, not bug out. I want to get home, that's it.

Address what your goal is. Use your kit before you need it. Keep it low key.

What you got looks like a good start, try the kit out and you'll find the gaps. I do think the kuk might draw a bit too much attention, if ya can get it into the bag. I know kuks are great, does it work for you in an urban/what you need situation? Along with all your dangly bits  up front, put them away. Keeps it quiet, low key.

Ideas: contractors bags, zip ties, duct tape, more water storage, dense food like p-nut butter and honey, wet wipes (made out of magic... esp if you're crapping in the woods, in buckets or behind dumpsters)

Other thing I have been thinking of recently is trade goods, cigs, booze, etc... not sure what people think about that. a weapon in one hand a gift in the other... hard to say how people will act when all hell breaks loose. Might be nice to have something to grease the wheels in your bag of tricks.

Thanks that's how I was trying to come across. I guess being up for 36 hours helps too ;)

"survival is an art, not a science" the kuk might not work for you that's fine. Just like there's all different ways to do something. THe important thing is You figure out what's good for you.

my point was to not show your goods, observe low profile get to where ya got to go. I believe you nailed it! :)

Sorry guys, i'll go to sleep. :)
