Urban Kit/B.O.B

I can see a scenario unfold where you fully intend to "bug out", but due to many possible variables, it takes more time to get out or get home- a kit that helps buy you a couple of days in an urban environment would be prudent imo (if you live/work/visit in an urban environment)

Great thread. For myself, my urban BOB (still under construction) will be designed to get me 16 miles back home. From East Los Angeles where I work to my family. So I like the idea about not standing out but that is kinda difficult for me. I'll be the big, blonde, butt white guy trekking it back to my family and that makes me a minority in my area. It has never been a problem, ever, but if things go crazy I know that could change in a heartbeat.

So trying to "not stand out" sounds good.

Over here it wouldnt really take long to travel from one end of the island to the next, a few long days of walking is all. Problem is, if for instance in an event of war breaking out and the cities were pretty much reduced to smoldering ruins surviving the inner city would be a boiling frog scenario, and so would living in the country side but at least the countryside wouldnt be littered with undetonated ordinance and disease spreading carrion feeders.

Its rather depressing planning to 'bug out' when you know your stuck on an island.

Looks a good kit, I like the prybar particularly. Maybe a decent screw driver with either a changeable head or 1 philips and 1 slotted head shaft with 1 handle that can go on either. Like this, just take 1 of each in a medium size I guess:

I'd also go for an adjustable wrench for bolts.

I'm trying to think of the stuff I carried for entering buildings in Iraq. My Leatherman gave up the ghost on most bolt heads and I couldn't get the angle often on the screw heads with the screwdrivers on it either. I luckily managed to supplement my toolkit from an Iraqi motor pool we searched. After that I could gain nondestructive entry into most places I needed to go.

Other than that a small roll of ziplock or sealable plastic bags to collect food/stuff in and save it from contaminating your pack (can also be used to store your poo until you have a place to get rid of it, if you are keen on leaving little trace) and lastly wet wipes. Either individual, like the ones you get at KFC or a tub. Good for hygiene, cleaning cuts and wiping your bum.
